Wolverine all day baby! Jackets, belts, claws, oh my.

Thanks for the tips man!
I weathered my indy jacket with acetone, and roughed it up sand paper. Cool method for the stripes.

That seler is in collaboration with Heron leather, the jacket is pretty good. As far as the claws alot of people mod the halloween ones with a palm piece and heavy grade wire for the claws just like the film used prop!

Is there a tutorial on how to take the claws out and make a palm piece for it? Just bought a pair and I want to get the claws off the fake hands and onto mine.

Just doing the thing where I check in and ask if Heron's still doing the X1 or X2 and if anybody's contacted them recently for a custom fit jacket - I don't know that I've seen too much mention of them in recent pages but I may have missed a lot. I would want to order it before they go on custom-hiatus for the winter (October?)

Primo and kenobibale, I have a Heron X-1 in size small if you're still looking for it. Trying to get it moved so I can pay for school stuff. Shoot me a pm.

hey man i just ordered my x-1 from them. i got it customized. so they are still taking orders. they were very helpful and were very quick in responding to my emails. i had been in touch with them before earlier this year and they were great at replying then suddenly stopped right when i was about to buy. at this point it was still the old website and the x-1 wasn't featured on it so maybe they wanted to focus on getting the web site updated and the pattern right. but ihave to say this time they were fantastic. the x-1 you see on the site is the thinner leather they said so i went for the thicker hide like superdrool did on his x-2.

as for the specs. well lets just say it wont be entirely screen accurate anymore, but a bit more functional i think. i have a early magnoli x-1 jacket in goat which i adore but it cost so much at the time that i am always afraid to wear it in case i damage it plus its pretty slim fitting so i cant really wear it in winter with layers without making it look too small on me plus i have bulked up a bit so it was time for a new one, and at the price heron charge i wont be afraid to wear it knowing it can be easily replaced. once it arrives hopefully in a few weeks ill post some pictures and a review so you can all see what they currently offer

If you don't mind me asking, kenobibale, how much is a Heron Wolverine jacket in the thicker leather like yours?

Me at Ocomicon. I was hired to walk the streets!!!! I had a really fun time there.
Here is a link to a pic of me in the local newspaper ------------> Waukesha Featured Photos <_-------------------

My UD Replicas X2 Jacket is no comparison, but seriously how many X2 Jackets are available? The other X2 jacket was used durin' my first MegaCon two years ago. I'd never go with anything else than my UD. It's permanent BUB! *SNIKT*

I just received my wolverinejacket.com jacket. I'll post some pics up later but I am very happy with the fit and finish of the jacket

OK, so I've been in touch with Heron finally - yay!

I have a question or 2 for you Heron guys. How necessary would you say the thicker hide is? I don't remember having asked in the thread but I might have; forgive me if it's a repetition. Basically, though, how cold can you handle with the 0.9mm "fashion weight" vs the 1.6mm "thicker" leather? And aside from the feel, how does the *look* change between the two hides?

Whoever you get your jacket from, the thickness depends on the look you are going for. If you want a causal look that is not movie accurate but looks good (awesome) for everyday use and also is thinner so you could wear it in slightly warmer weather you can get the thinner leather. However, if you are hardcore and want screen accuracy you will want the thicker leather. The thicker leather lays firmer on the body with less crumple zones. This gives it a little more manly look as well. I had purchased a Thinner leather wolverine jacket from velvet revolver, even though the jacket was the highest of quality, it didn't look right on me for what I was going for. It did look and feel like the best jacket I ever owned, but for the money I paid I had to return it to get a wolverine jacket that fit my needs better. After I got the thicker jacket I could not believe the difference. I wear my Wolverine jacket as much as I can; every day it gets colder out I'm in it. I would wear it all the time if I could. At work someone asked me what kind of bike I ride lol, I don't own a motorcycle. (I wish I did)

To recap. The thin jacket could be awesome if that's what you want, fashion and wear-ability. But if you want closer to screen accurate or believablity go with the thicker one. But depending on who you by from you have to look over each version to make sure the look you see in the pictures is what you want. I'm only trying to help explain the difference on how the difference in thickness translates to your body. Also make sure you are happy with the level of distressing of the jacket.

edit. tips for jacket purchasing: Don't buy any cheap jackets from unkowen sellers out there. Many places use coppied pics that are not of the product they are selling. I would stick with Heron, Logan's Closet, Wasted Leather Co, or Wolverinejacket.com

Thanks Solider - I wouldn't be going with any unknowns; I think Heron is a great middle ground of cost and quality with custom fit, for me. It's the over-$100 difference between the fashionweight leather and the thick leather that made me ask. I do like a more solid jacket, for sure, but simply can't gauge how different they would be. I'd hate to buy either and have it be useless due to being too thick or too thin for comfort.

As an owner of many leather jackets, my advice is to go to a leather jacket store and try on a few jackets in the "biker styles" you can tell the thin jackets from the thick by feel, or ask a sales man for assistance in the differences . That would give you the best answer to your questions. And also if they do this there, have them take jacket fitting measurements of your body.

I saw the new Wolverine heron jacket on their website, but now I can't seem to find it. Regardless, it looked good and the advice on this forum has been great. So, I'm guessing the fashion thickness (0.9 mm) is 189 dollars and the biker thickness (1.6 mm) is 350 dollars. That is a jump in price and honestly the wolverinejacket.com jacket looks just as good if not better and it's the same price and it's thick as well. I really wished wolverinejacket.com would do a X-1 jacket like heron has, I know the issue there is his manufacturer won't do it. I like the Origins design, but at the same time I like the more modest X-1 design.

Remember in my signature, if you use the promo "I know Solider" you get $25 off the wolverinejacket.com price making it $325 :D Which happens to be the jacket I wear. I also did a video jacket review linked in my sig. For all the wolverine enthusiasts; regardless of the jacket you go with. I hope you make a decision that you are comfortable with.
