Aaaahh, I wish I could have leave to get some catching up done, now I'm jealous. Looking forward to seeing the deathstroke build... I'll be keeping an eye out for the thread.

Ps, you've got mail.

Now THAT's a beautiful set of helmets... well done buddy ( hope that piece between the jaw and ear wasn't too much of a pain ).

Have you tried the baby powder/woodglue experiment yet?

Yes, worked like a wall filler. Will be using automotive body filler for stronger and smoother finish after I finished glassing everything. had a little challenge with the jawon the right ear, but it was an easy fix. just had to modify the shape.Thanks.

Cool, good to know... I haven't really had time to continue trying to figure out what the issue is with that area. As you said... its a fairly simple fix, but still would like to get it right.

Looking forward to seeing the final product.... keep up the good work.

Bandiet and or VenomViper, What did you use the baby powder/wood glue for? To paint on the inside or outside of the helmet to harden the paper? How much baby powder do you add? Sorry for all the questions but I'm very intrigued.

Judge Spartan, I was just trying alternative / Cheaper methods to use for smoothing the outside. I can't use resin(fiberglass) since I don't have a well ventilated work area for it. I tried to paper mache the inside and outside of my projects but still not that stiff for applying filler. So currently trying plain woodglue first for glassing. then will apply the mixture of baby powder and woodglue for smoothing out before prep for paint.

I'm by no means a Batman fan, but hell when I saw this, things changed. View attachment 369183
I haven't been able to find a file for it, so being a complete amateur at 3D modeling, I've decided to use this as a base for learning. Here are some progress pics. Critique ( positive or negative ) is welcome.

Back end and jaw details are obviously still to be completed... and the ears need to be tweaked a bit.

Aaaaaand now that everyone has the file... I am glad to announce that the link to the file in the first post has been rectified.

I know... I'm a dumb@ss, apologies to those who did the initial download and sat with issues opening the file.

Not much progress made... been a rough week. Major storm came crashing in and took out my satellite connection and blew my wifi modem... along with some flood damage to my property. At least my pc was spared.

Had to rebuild the right ear... resin warped it more than I initially noticed. Got my acrylic sheeting and led lighting strips for the eyes... also got some 2mm abs sheeting for some of the jaw details.

Like I said... not much progress but going to give it horns this weekend...

Hi Mike, you're welcome buddy... Yeah, I've been indecisive about the eye's. I eventually settled for a smoked black clear acrylic... so gonna see how it turns out. Remember to read post #94 if you haven't yet... theres a small problem area that I haven't managed to get sorted, small but could be anoying.

Enjoy the build, hope to see your progress pics soon.

Small update :

uploadfromtaptalk1413714828713.jpg

Got the upper and lower ears aligned and bolted down... still need to "thin" them out a bit, they seem to be buldging outward ( suppose I could have fixed that on the model before peping... lesson learned )

I got the acrylic sheeting cut, filed and heat formed into the eye sockets, so they're ready to he fitted once the paint has been done.

Spent some time on the abs sheeting, crafting parts for the jaw and of course the latches behind the jaw onto the rear of the helmet. I'll post progress pics on that a bit later.

Right now it's off the the movies, taking my son to see the new TMNT film...
