Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber. (New Pics of design on Last Page !!)

Re: Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber.

That's because (as others have stated) it didn't have a blade. The blade was added later in post production but added to the wrong end!

It's weird in another way... the blade is coming out of the wrong end!

Re: Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber.

Looks good, but you shouldn't have it stepped down to the smaller inside diameter (if that makes sense. There are pictures that show that small hole in the centre is part of a piece that is inserted into the main tube. Here's a pic of the assembly of the emitter end. The scale isn't accurate, it's just to show how it goes together.

Re: Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber.

It would be great to finally ID the Barbican, one of my all time favorites. Think I have all the the same pics as everyone else but will check my files.

What happened to this project?

Re: Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber. (New Pics of design on Last Page !

I couldn't get anyone interested to make it and there was disagreement as to whether or not it was even used in the movie.

Sad, it would have been a great addition to a lightsaber collection.

I don't think I'd say it was a disagreement, jut no proof it was screen used and that's never stopped anybody before.
The so-called "Vader ROTJ" graflex has never been proven on screen.
The Elstree Luke ROTJ was almost certainly not even a real production made prop but there was a run of those.

I really like the Barbican Vader. It's from the Lucasfilm archives, has a real MPP midband, a circuit board that matches other screen used ESB props, and a detail under the shroud that is the mating piece to the control box on the "Vader ROTJ" graflex saber - it's almost certainly production made and likely screen used.

It's also the basis for the ROTS Vader saber which makes it important in SW history as well.

I'd want one if they were ever made.
I've been saving my extra MPP midband and circuit board for one of these.

So, is there are chance to this project may gain interest of the collectors again to make it happen? :D

Me too! I would love to see this happen :thumbsup

I'd be happy to tackle it if i can get good photos, but I've never seen any clear ones. Too many unknowns and guess work to do this in the quality that I'd be comfortable with. But if someone can find good reference, I'd be happy to take it on as my next saber project, but I think Anakin Starkiller can do it more justice than I.

Great to see this thread getting some attention again :):thumbsup

TriCloudwalker:
I don´t think good pics would be a problem. There are plenty of them and Chris T. already did the basic scaling for this part.
Here´s the pic of my -inaccurate- barbican, which I built years ago. Maybe it helps motivating you guys ;)

And yes...the rectangular box is built, but not attached since I couldn´t find accurate wing-nuts as of yet :unsure

I can help you with a lot of high resolution picture of the prop. Can you please PM me your email address so I can send them to you.

I remember seeing high res picks at some point, but I can't recall where - i'd figure here.

Didn't they put it on display at one of the celebrations?

Re: Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber. (New Pics of design on Last Page !

Sorry to bump a really old thread, but I'd be very interested in getting some parts for this saber. I think there are plenty of photos of the saber out there to make an accurate replica. Pastor Jedi put a bunch up here:
Untitled Document

Even if we could just get accurate end-caps made, I think I could scratch-build the rest...

Anybody else still interested in this saber??

Re: Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber. (New Pics of design on Last Page !

Oh, I would be all over this. The Barbican saber is the only one I still need to complete for my collection. I've been hoarding parts for years to do one.

Very interesting!

I already have One built, but would be interested in a more accurate one :)
