Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber. (New Pics of design on Last Page !!)

Re: Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber.

I'm definitely in for the whole shebang. I also have a ton of hi res pics from practically every conceivable angle, if needed.

As a sidenote, the plastic detail part you guys are refering to was used on the saber that came with that terrible flat chested full-sized Vader figure (Rubies?) that was made and sold back in the late 90's. I know someone who had it and supposedly still has the saber and I've been trying to get a casting of it for some time, but if anyone else has it, they might take a look and use it for reference.

I have diagrams with dimensions already for the end cap and box, I did them back when there was an old research thread on this saber. We hadn't decided exactly how the end cap went together, there were a couple theories.

Sure I'm interested...Can we get parts separately?

Re: Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber.

I would also be interested in this sabre, its quite a quirky looking thing isnt it :thumbsup

Re: Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber.

IIRC - the theory is that the piece on the Barbican saber is a mating piece for the detail on the Graflex Vader ROTJ saber. Some dimensions and details seem to match up. This piece also appears on the Energizer Bunny saber.

This could be useful for scaling and better detail than some of the Barbican pics.

Also keep in mind the center black piece in the endcap is one of those rounded black allen head bolts as used higher up on the saber.

I have some spare parts I've been thinking about using for this saber so I'm interested.
Didn't DarthSaber do a blueprint already or start one?

So which one is the correct version?

Re: Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber.

I hear the winds of change picking up again ...here's to hoping !

Its just GREAT to see a fresh thread on lightsabers. Now that the Obiwan Episode IV saber has been solved, its hard to pick up a new fresh topic without it being MR related.

Thats a great question stated above? I dont recall seeing pics of the Barbican saber in the movies... anyone have any?!:confused

Re: Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber.

Well the energizer Bunny saber was not used in the movies, because it was made specifically for the energizer commercial.

But the Barbican saber was used in ESB and perhapse ROTJ.

Some people have identified the Barbican saber in the final duel.

I had a hunch that it was in ROTJ, but I didnt know it was used in ESB. Thats a new one to me.

With HD capture available it might be time to confirm this.

To my knowledge neither the Barbican or the Graflex "Vader ROTJ" have been positively confirmed in the movies. Our interest in them lies in the fact they come from the Lucasfilm archives. Their use in the movies is basically assumed.

Well, something other than an MPP was used in ROTJ. That saber is just way too weird looking. The scene where Luke is up on the gantry, just before vader throws his saber at Luke... it looks like something other than an MPP.

I always thought that one (that Vader threw) was the Graflex. It's weird in another way... the blade is coming out of the wrong end!

Well I really doubt that the director would have had Vader through a bladed stunt saber (or even a metal stunt saber) at Mark Hammil. Can you picture it...
OK, Mark,
stand still,
this migth hurt a little...

I'm pretty sure that any saber thrown by one actor at another would be a rubber or resin stunt, w/o a blade.

True.

Re: Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber.

I've never seen a shred of conclusive evidence that the Barbican was used in ESB. I cannot deny it absolutely, but I personally doubt it. I am reasonably sure it was to be the "hero" (belt) saber in ROTJ, and the one popularly known as Vader's ROTJ saber was the fencing "stunt". I can't prove it conclusively, but won't be surprised when it is proven that way.
