Sign me up for 2 depending on the price.

Thanks!

That's what I like to hear :)

So I think we're approaching 15 (I plan on buying a couple sets and building them up for sale on e-bay (since I'm not planning on making any money off of you lot:lol) But to get a real good price, I think we need to hit around 20.

Re: Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber.

I don't think the correct screws (if they were even screws) for the sides were ever found were they?

Re: Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber.

Also, I have a bunch of pictures and some drawings I made from the old discussion thread about the details of the "end cap". I don't think anything was ever agreed upon 100% though

Re: Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber.

this is interesting...count me interested.

I love this, MR stops making sabers and the rpf goes right back to where it started pre MR....in a manner of speaking.

Re: Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber.

wow ive been waiting for this

put me down for one:)

Re: Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber.

OK - someone needs to fill me in on the history of this saber - this is the first I've heard of it...

Re: Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber.

I'm also interested. And I'd like to offer my services for molding and casting parts. (If we go that route. :rolleyes)

Wow, Ok it looks like we're getting somewhere:lol

So in the tradition of a watched pot never boils, I go away for a day, and come back and see that we have a whole new buch of people joining the party. Well this is great. The more the merrier (and cheaper):lol

So here is the deal so far. I have drawn up the emmiter anc end cap and gotten some measurements for the tube.

As it is now. I have quotes for the emmiter and end cap and am almost ready to move on those parts. I will post some pics of what I have come up with this weekend so you guys can evaluate the designs.

So it looks like all we need now is a source for the round top hex cap screws and some dimensions for the circut ox that goes behind the shroud. If someone can get some good dimensions going, Markus can start scratchbuilding that part, and Darth Cross, thats for offerig help. When we get a circut box proto up and runnign, I will contact you if we need some castings made.

Very glad to see everyone getting on board on a new board proejct. Especially as I have some other projects in the future that I would like to approach in a similar way (remember that I own a real OWK EP1 lightsaber ;) )

Anwyays, renders of the parts I will offer will be coming along soon so saty tuned.

Thanks

Dan

Re: Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber.

Some quick scaling and measurements:

Detail box - 1.5" long x .5" wide (How does this compare to the Vader ROTJ piece?) Two large holes 5/16" diameter

D-ring bracket - cut from simple 1/2 inch bar stock (approx 1.25" long, hand cut and finished) Attached with two standard 6/32 button head allen screws

Shroud ring piece - cut from 1 inch thick aluminum stock (width of section between box and bracket pieces)

About 2 inches between bottom of shroud and top of MPP band.

Main tube - 1.5" diameter

Large black screws? - Head size is about .46 inches (maybe larger, hard to determine edge)

Large holes in tube for these screws - 5/16" diameter

Constants used for checking scaling:
6/32 screw heads - .257" head diameter
MPP band - 1.75" wide

The 'Barbican' saber first came to everyone's attention when it appeared at a Lucasfilm archive exhibit at the Barbican museum in the UK (hence the name). It has since appeared at Star Wars Celebration III.

It seems to be an ROTJ saber (maybe with ESB stunt origins).

It also became the basis for the Vader ROTS saber when it was loaned to the Ep3 prop department.

Re: Who is interested in the Barbican Vader saber.

The buttons? Are they nail-in anchors, pingrips, nylon push-in rivets, or the M31 rivets like are used to put together the shopping carts at Wal-Mart?

What is thought to have been its purpose or use? And whats with all the Energizer Bunny references???
