WIP - My R1 Vader Saber Build

Hey everyone!

Im slowly tinkering on a R1 Vader Saber build. There's not a lot of Reference out there on this one. But I personally love the look of it.

Here's the goal, to custom build the aluminum tube body and use various parts from different vendors to piece together what looks/feels right. I'm totally open to suggestions and constructive criticisms.

Ive modeled and Im currently printing some hole cutting guides. I don't have access to a lathe or anything so a Dremel is what I'll be using. Im printing an inner and outer guide to fit on the tube. that what Ill have something on the inside to help guide when it comes to filing later on. Here's what it looks like.

The guides will be aligned with screws inserted into the holes for the bulb release.

Ive got a handful of parts from WanaWanga like the bulb release knob, MPP end cap, Wires, Grips, Screws, Clamp and bubbles. I have a steel shroud but I can't remember where I got it from and who made it.

Im hoping the guides will be done by the time I get home from work.

Looks like a fun project and can’t wait to see progress.

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the R1 tube had the smaller B-port. Wanted to point this out before you got too far into fabricating it.

Thank you!! And I appreciate the help. I scaled it off this photo. It’s pretty grainy.

You could be right. The Hasbro version showed the a large port there too.

I might be confusing it with the real flash that was purchased by production around that time. It had a small port.

I wish there were better references for this one for sure. But I’ll give it my best shot!

Pretty sure these are the same source as your scan. I had this saved from the rpf somewhere:

Might be an adjusted version of this also:

I also found this one on wookiepedia. It appear to be the R1 saber:

I took the physical parts I had to Ace hardware today. I managed to find the right size bolt and brass washer for the clamp. I do need to paint up the side bars to black still. But one step closer to my R1 saber!!
