Who else watched Predators yesterday?

The burning skull in the camp looked a bit xeno-esque... And was the "ship" not referred to by Noland ( Noeland's the awesome artist, Noland's the fat nutter ;) ) as "A drill someone left behind"?

You didn't get a good look at it, but didn't the creature from the cage that was chasing Doc look a bit like that guy above?

From IMDB, (if you accept it);

The alien creature that pursues Edwin (Topher Grace) through the jungle during the ambush scene is a slightly modified version of the original, abandoned Predator design from 1987.

Looks like it.

Not sure why there is complaining about the guns. All of the human weapons are real guns

Brody had an AA12 the girl had a blazer R93 with an elcan optical DigitalHunter scope.

I thought it was weird that nobody questions why the doctor was there. I was hoping for a joke where it turned out his name was Michael Tyson and they picked him up by mistake.

Also I thought it would have been cool to show all of the abductions.

I'm so, so glad they didn't pull an Avatar. That movie looked ridiculous. I'm just as willing to accept Hawaii as I am to accept Tattoine or Endor. I really, really liked the "less is more" for CGI. It just looks so bad most of the time. As for the doctor, I assumed he recognized a similar defense/design of the plant to earth ones, not that it was identical. A stretch? Maybe. But one I was prepared to accept. I think with things like that it depends on whether you're enjoying the film. If you're into it, you're more forgiving. If you think it kind of sucks, all those little things add up to compound your dislike. I am a well known Predator gusher, and on top of that I just thought it was a fun/cool movie, so I let those little things go, for the most part.

I'm more apt for the Predators importing some faunas to make a more ideal world for hunting.

Finally got to catch it Friday night, deffinatly head and shoulders over AvP and AvP:R. I enjoyed it, not sure about the "Super" Predators but all in all a good flick.

I saw it yesterday, and I loved it. Caught all of the homage to the originals and really got a kick out of the new predator design, especially the Alien jawbone on his mask.

And what is with the crashed ship Noeland is hiding in? Was this some other race that just got to close and the predators decided to bring it down and use the crew as game?

Did Noeland ever say who he was/why he was there? (I also thought his death was rather ignominious and down-played the fact he had survived for so long on his own).

IIRC, he indicated it was some sort of earth mover that had stopped working some time in the past and been abandoned but that the power still worked. I could be wrong. I don't think he ever did say exactly who he was or whatever but I'd venture a guess that he was insane before his arrival.

I'd have to watch again but I remember thinking dinosaur when I saw that skull.
You may be right though.

The skull I noticed deffinatly seems "raptor" like to me, not so much Xeno, and the chest, was deffinatly a plasma caster, looked almost identical to the torso they used for Jesse Ventura after he bought it.

Another skull one, anyone else catch the skulls from Arnie's men in P1 or was that my imagination?

I thought I saw a caveman looking, primitive human skull, along with a Tyrannosaur. Neither makes sense, unless the Preds time travel or breed prey in a lab, but still kinda funky.

I think it makes sense. it's a big universe. Although when I stop to think about Preds culling the most challenging species to this planet to "learn and adapt" as is explained in this movie....I just find it hard to believe a pred can learn a damn thing from hunting humans at this point. I mean, every once in a while you get one who is a challenge but the rest are useless.

And i agree with you about the doc....i think he saw a plant and bull****ted. He was obviously a pathological liar.

We assume that the film takes place now.. for all we know they've all been in stasis for several years. It's entirely possible that they routinely abduct things that they deem to be potentially dangerous, freeze em, and drop them on the planet when their previous hunt has ended.
I can totally understand them hunting humans, we're (more or less) an intelligent species, capable of adaptation and improvisation. Who knows when someone is gonna do something totally unexpected?
Noone expects a magician to pull the rabbit outta his butt... (unless he's Richard Gere) :lol

as for the plant, I tend to think he knew.. I noticed right away that ne never cleaned the toxin from his blade and I kept wondering when he'd use it.
I was just hoping he'd use it on one of the Predators.

We assume that the film takes place now.. ......

See, I was wondering that right from the start when everyone was introducing themselves. A Russian fighting in Chechenya? Wikipedia lists the Chechen wars as in the 90's. Compare that to the woman with the super sniper riffle that looks for all the world like it has a TV remote on top. I found myself wondering why no-one asked what year it was when they were taken. That would have been a better twist that some of he lame ones they actually gave us.

I think it probably would have been a good twist (that could have been addressed in future movies)...but i think it would open up a whole can of worms if you give Preds time travel. Now if you give them time scoop technology - where they can pluck from other times without having the ability to actually travel in time themselves, that would be less problematical.

Amelia Earhart Vs. Predator

I don't think they have time travel they have just been hunting for a very long time. remember the T-rex skull in P2. Or they may have snached up some dinos here a long time ago and carried them to a different game planet on which they never went extinct.
