When making gauntlets, for the main frame what thickness EVA foam should I use?

So, for Halloween I'm planning on making Vi's gauntlets.
I have a template made and ready to print, but I need to order my EVA foam. For the details I have craft foam from my local store, but I'm not 100% sure whether to use 4mm, 2mm, ect,ect foam thickness for the main body. I'm buying of WTF (what the foam).
If anyone can give advice or help, it'd be much appreciated. I'm a fairly new into cosplay, so I'm not too sure about some of these things.
