Okay so I love the Mad Max movies. LOVE them. And I love behind the scenes and making of's and commentary, retrospective or otherwise. I love behind the scenes stuff.

What is the best Mad Max set? What is the best version? Blue Ray? DVD? What? Is there a be all-end all set of these movies yet?

Mad Max Experts Activate! LOL

I dont think there is any difference between the films minus the original voice track. The US version had Mels voice dubbed over as well as the others. If you like to watch movies and feel like your an art conosur, watch the dubbed version. If your after the film itself, watch the non dubbed one.

I bought some edition that had the original Australian version of Mad Max as well as the dubbed US version.
Once you watch the Aussie version, you'll never bother to watch the dubbed one.
The DVD also had some special features, including a bit about people building replica interceptors and pursuit specials.

I think this is the right one:
Amazon.com: Mad Max (Special Edition): Mel Gibson, Joanne Samuel, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Steve Bisley, Tim Burns, Roger Ward, Lisa Aldenhoven, David Bracks, Bertrand Cadart, David Cameron, Robina Chaffey, Stephen Clark, David Eggby, George Miller, Cliff H
I'd have to dig out mine when I get home to check.

Yeah I have the Special Edition too. The original (Australian) audio track has become the norm for me as well.

Though I do miss Bubba Zanetti's US voice actor- for some reason the original actor's voice just doesn't fit. :unsure

There's a dubbed version of it?!

Yup- the North American release used US voice actors for pretty much every character (maybe with the exception of Mel- unless the voice actor was able to mimic Mel's voice minus his accent).

I think the only part of the US version that "preserves" the original track, is Goose singing to himself in the Ute before he is attacked by Johnny the Boy and the Toecutter.

I have a version of it on dvd that is double sided. It has the original actors in one and the US voice overs on the other.

My mom and sister, both Mel fans, also believe that Mel did his own dub.
