What actor is the best cast as the superhero character they play?

Wasn't Danzig their Wolverine?

Could be-- that info I found was just text, unfortunately-- I tried really hard to find the article itself (with pictures!)
Danzig does look an awful lot like Wolvie now that you mention it

I think most are in agreement that Ryan Reynolds was a horrible choice for Hal Jordan - ever since the 80's - I've only had one actor in mind -

WOW, that looks like it came right out of a supposed Green Lantern movie that never saw the light of day!!! Yes, he sure would have been perfect!!

I did not see him mentioned but when I look at Superhero characters and the actors who play them I have never thought ANYONE was better cast as Kelsey Grammar as The Beast in X3

I agree, he did an awesome job as Beast. I also like the guy who played night crawler.

Another person who I haven't seen mentioned is Kevin Spacey as Lex. I thought he did a great job... Just too bad the movie was not as good as hoped for.

I thought 90% of all the X-Men cast was great. Cyclops and Storm failed miserably...but I'll just blame that on the script. :p

Dennis Quaid?!! Hell's yeah!! Got my vote, especially since you posted the Innerspace image. :D

Topher Grace was...well a DIS-grace as Eddie Brock. I expected someone 180 out from his everything on-screen. Lost complete faith in Sam Raimi after SM3. Had no balls to stand up to the producers or production company, as I know he had a whole different vision for the third film. You can see he didn't have his way with the Goblin makeup FX...which was WAY better at emoting and less Green Ranger. J.K. Simmons is awesome and carried the funny as well as kept the comic connection for me.

P.S. Glenn Danzig is Logan/Wolverine, whether he can act or not, he was genetically made to fit that role.

I have never seen the Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern, but the one thing that I hated about seeing the preview of the movie the most was that it meant there could never be more Deadpool/Wade Wilson for Reynolds.

I do think that Patrick Stewart for Prof. X is spot on.

And in that universe I always liked to see Rebecca Romjin as Mystique

Really? Don't get me wrong - I love Spacey, and I loved the idea of him playing Luthor, but I thought he was terrible in the role - could have been the script, could have been because he was forced to carry the history of Gene Hackman with him, without truly being able to pull from it. That whole scene where he's kicking Superman blurting out garbage lines like "Kinda like a son inherits traits from his father!" - for some reason his rivalry with Superman never landed with me - I thought John Shea from Lois and Clark did a much better job during the first season of that show. I would have liked to have seen Terry O'Quinn playing Luthor as a great white hunter Hemingway/ King of New York kind of slant. But as I said before - the actors in this movie were in trouble before the cameras started rolling.

Yes defiantly Robert Downy Jr. as Stark i agree! :)

I think Tobey Maguire was a good pick in Sam Rami's Spider Man movie.

I know he wasn't a super hero but i would like to add...Paul McGillion (Carson Beckett from Stargate Atlantis) as Scotty from the new Star Trek movie. Wish he got the part.

+ 1 On Lynda Carter. I can't even see anyone else in that role.

...

I so wanted Jim Cavizzell(sp?) as the new Superman (instead of Brandon Routh and not with the script they used). I read Bruce Willis was originally wanted for Nick Fury = which I would have liked a hell of a lot more than Sam Jackson. And a young John Cusack would have perfect for Spider-Man/ Peter Parker.

I totally agree with this entire list. I think you're spot on with that. I think Sam Jackson made a mean Nick Fury, but Bruce Willis would have killed that role. I think the only downside to that would have been everybody making John McClane jokes the entire time.

... If they gave Tyler Mane a second chance, I will take him over Liev any day as Sabretooth.
...

I'll probably get ripped apart for this one, but I preferred Schreiber to Mane. He may not have had as iconic of a look as Mane, but man, he sold me on his role in Origins. I didn't care much for Origins, but Schreiber and Reynolds made it worth watching for me (which is sad considering they were not in 90% of the movie).

You beat me to the punch I was going to say Spacey was/is the best Lex Luthor ever. The script was meh, and the direction not that great, but Spacey pulled it together in that movie. I hope he'll one day reprise his role.

I think you summed it up. The actors were doomed in this, it was IMO, aside from Spacey, completely miscast from the beginning top to bottom (Kal Penn as a henchman for Lex Luthor, and Parker Posey as Kitty Kowalski are shining examples of that), the script was weak (Superman abandons his son to look for the remains of his planet while in a tiff? What?), the direction seems nearly non-existent, and overall it was a very, very weak movie. However, I would, again, love to see Spacey given another chance. He seemed to be the only actor who didn't have somebody whispering "ACT!" off-screen. It's just too bad that we didn't get a better offering than SR for his rendition of such a classic villain. Of course maybe he would have just sucked regardless, who knows? Too late now.

I agree on the Dennis Quaid also. He would have made an amazing Hal Jordan.

Danzig too. The "Genetically made for..." comment was 100% right.

Sorry for all the quoting, had a lot I wanted to respond to there.

Don't get me wrong...I love me some Liev Scheiber, but maybe more of the two combined would have it down. I think they went too left field and forced too much from Logan's childhood that never happened in the books, which ruined the story completely. They were never brothers, nor related. As a matter of fact, a one shot comic I have details the blood rivalry that goes back to cavemen days of their 'tribes'. But that story told too much, and finally ended the feud forever. I won't go into spoilers but lets say the look of Tyler Mane was well infused with Liev's demeanor and sick humor.

im probably bias, but I thought Billy Campbell played Cliff Secord really well..

He fit Dave Steven's character perfectly.

I guess it's no surprise I was gonna say Bill Campbell as Cliff Secord as well.

RDJ as Tony Stark and Chris Reeve as Superman are about as perfect as it gets as well IMHO.

Though Hugh is too tall for Wolvy, I still think he was the best one picked out of that whole cast, save for Magneto, Prof. X and Cyclops. Anna Paquin as Rogue? WHO ARE YOU KIDDING?!

Jean Claude as Gambit?? PLEASE DON'T RUIN THAT CHARACTER FOR ME -_-. Taylor Kitsch was okay, but didn't play the Cajun up enough. Josh Holloway should have been Gambit.

And to be honest, Cable can only be played by Stephen Lang:

Is Judge Dredd Classed as a Superhero, i believe so, with this in Mind

Sylvestor Stallone as Dredd :love

Seriously Though definately agree on Ron Pealman and RDJ

How about Kate Beckinsale's portrayal of Selene thats pretty cool.

Any one remember Nicholas Hammond as Spiderman ???

I think basically the whole cast of Watchmen was pretty spot on! I also love Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, and JK Simmons as JJJ. No matter what, those are two characters that I can never imagine anyone else portraying.

As far as voice actors, I love Josh Keaton as Spider-Man!

I know he wasn't a super hero but i would like to add...Paul McGillion (Carson Beckett from Stargate Atlantis) as Scotty from the new Star Trek movie. Wish he got the part.
I concur. He not only resembles a young James Doohan, he's actually Scottish. Nothing against Simon Pegg, btw; he was quite good considering how little they gave him to do.

For anyone who doesn't already know, McGillion is in the 2009 Star Trek movie--doing an American accent to boot. He's the barracks leader Kirk complains to after not being assigned to a starship (just before McCoy drugs Kirk and "smuggles" him onto the Enterprise).

Back to the topic, I can only agree with many that have already been posted: Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Ron Perlman as Hellboy, Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as The Comedian, Brandon Lee as Eric Draven/The Crow, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America, and Nathan Fillion as Malcolm Reynolds (hell, the whole cast of Firefly was spot on).

I'll add two actors whose movie characters weren't necessarily "super" heroes, but heroes nevertheless: Sam Elliot as Caretaker in Ghost Rider (fitting, since Elliot was the basis for the character in the comic books), and Mickey Rourke as Marv in Sin City.

Most of the x-men cast were spot on but I just couldn't take to Gambit, Cyclops, Rogue but Professor X was spot on!

Still yet to see an actor nail the Punisher for me, I liked the actors so far but still something missing for me.

Ron Perlman as Hellboy and Wesley Snipes as Blade were genius!

RDJ makes a great Iron Man he has that arrogance and humor needed to make it work. Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool was another great casting, he should have stayed with that role.

Arnold as Mr Freeze was insanely stupid as was Tobin for Venom. Some of the worst casting ever!

Affleck as Daredevil wasn't impressive and I really wanted to like Jennifer as Elektra but she fell a bit short for me as as well.
