I am going to go with..
    Ron Pearlman in Hellboy
    and
Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark

    I couldn't have picked a better match

Also Jackie Earle Haley as Roarschach

    What do you think?

I agree with Pearlman for Hellboy - Gotta be Christopher Reeves as Superman for me.

Brandon Lee as The Crow. Every other actor playing that role in the subsequent movies pale in comparison.

+1 on Pearlman, Reeve. and lee. I know most wont agree but I think Val Kilmer did a fine role as Batman/Bruce Wayne given the story and direction of the movie.

After the first few minutes of the movie when I saw it, Hugh Jackman IS Wolverine.

No Christian Bale love? Like his take on Batman's voice or not, his Bruce Wayne is the best, most complex depiction yet.

    Does Snipes as Blade count?

My choice for the worst cast would be- Nick Cage as ghost Rider. Topher Grace as Venom, and the whole cast of the fantastic 4.

Definitely RDJ as Tony Stark. Agree with the others but also like to add:

    Patrick Stewart as Professor X
John Slattery as Howard Stark in Iron Man 2

As much as I can't stand him, Samuel Jackson as Nick Fury. Mean, the comic character was changed to BE him.

    +1 on that.

    Much under-rated film.

I've always liked George Reeves as Superman, and especially as Clark Kent.

i dont think there is a fair view for characters that were only played by one person so far

sure, rdj as tony stark is great, but would you know if some one else would do a better or worse impression?

so, i think the comparison should only be for superheros that had more actors attached to them.

I know it was a bit part in the movie (Wolverine) but I thought that Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool was spot on. He can deliver sarcasm well.

I honestly think Adam West made a brilliant Batman of the time, same with George Reeves/Superman.

Now I agree with most of the opinions expressed above, but can we include super villains? Because obviously Heath Ledger needs a mention. And William Dafoe as Green Goblin.

I agree with a lot of the above, and I'm gonna throw in a controversial one here: Ian McKellan as Magneto. I know in the comic Magneto is hugely buff and blah blah blah. But I BOUGHT him in the movies, 100%

This gets my vote as well-- I remember waaaaay back in 1993 or 4, Wizard Magazine was doing their 'casting call' (a fun monthly article of who they thought should play their favorite superheroes in a hypothetical movie)
When they were doing X-Men, even back then, everyone thought Patrick Stewart should be Prof. X!

    *Edit*
In fact, after a quick google search, I found the actual list from that issue! Definitely some funny ones (Wolverine & Cable)

    Xavier-Patrick Stewart
    Bishop-Michael Dorn
    Colossus-Dolph Lundgren
    Cyclops-Michael Biehn (<---- AWESOME!!!!!)
    Gambit-Jean-Claude Van Damme
    Psylocke-Tia Carrere
    Sabretooth-Clancy Brown
    Magneto-Rutger Hauer
    Jean Grey-Nicole Kidman
    Wolverine-Robert DeNiro
    Cable-Clint Eastwood

    No seriously... :confused :confused :confused

While I thoroughly enjoyed Jackman's portrayal of Wolverine, he wasn't 100% spot on for the role; he's too tall.

And subsequently after the success of X-Men, the comic artists gave Wolverine a bit more height. The character was altered to fit the actor.

Christopher Reeve gets my vote as well.

Oh and Reb Brown as Captain America. :angel :behave

Joins a list of "WTF were they thinking?" on casting... Like Dustin Hoffman as Rick Deckard.

I actually didn't mind Vincent perez, but that movie was terrible.

The last two on that list surprise me. I always thought Eastwood would have been a perfect Wolverine but he was just too old by the time they actually made the movies. I can't really see DeNiro in the role.

Just off the top of my head and those already mentioned above:

    The Best:

    Superman Christopher Reeve
    Professor X Patrick Stewart

    The Worst:

Green Lantern Ryan Reynolds (I like the guy, just not as HJ)
    Venom Topher Grace

    Who I’d Like to See:

    Shazam/Captain Marvel Jon Hamm

And I'm going to be strung from the highest tree but I'm going to say it anyway-- Heath Ledger as the Joker was just "OK". He was good in the role, but he didn't really blow me away. I'm one of the few who isn't impressed as much as everyone else.

+1 on the cast of Popeye!

    Best:
    Patrick Stewart as professor X
Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury
    RDJ as Iron Man
JK Simmons as J Jonah Jameson

    Worst:
    Shaq as steel
    Arnold as Mr Freeze

    Would like to see:
A batman movie made more like Arkham City and less like 89 or Nolan's.
Should cast Thomas Gibson (criminal minds) as an established and aging Bruce Wayne/batman and Hugh Laurie (House MD) as the riddler.

Also liked Michael Keaton as the Bat. Once again especially as Bruce Wayne.

Bill Bixby was a great Banner. I fully agree with most of the previous choices. Keaton was a great Bats, but I am split because I did enjoy Kilmer's take as well.

Never was an Evans fan, but man...he sold me on his portrayal of Cap.

Ditto on Bill Bixby. He is THE Bruce Banner for me.

It would be hard for anyone to replace Jackman as Wolverine, especially if it's a 56 year old Danzig.

Adam West was the best Bruce Wayne. The perfect self absorbed playboy.

Christian Bale is real good, except the voice, and the round mouth mask. I thought he [bruce wayne] would grow out of the voice as he got more confident. But nooooo.

Kevin Conroy as the voice of Batman cartoons.

Wesley Snipes as Blade. But the movie kind of half re-invented Blade anyway, so it's his creation.

Jackman made a good Wolverine, within the confines of the scripts.

Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark. Anyone could play Iron Man.

Chris Evans as Captain America. Even better than Reb Brown.

Most of the cast of Watchmen and Mystery Men were perfect, but we didn't know the characters that well so we had no image in our heads.

Nicholas Cage as Big Daddy. Chloe Moretz'*-Girl. They're burnt into my brain.

Burt Ward as Robin. He did the classic image of the boy wonder the best.

    Angelina Jolie - Lara Croft
    Lynda Carter - Wonder Woman
    Rebecca Romijn - Mystique
    Arnold - Conan

And I know this is voice acting but Mark Hamill as the Joker.

Dougray Scott was cast as Wolverine, but had to bow out as he was contracted too MI:2 in Sydney. All the reshoots the film had, Dougray was prevented from starting work on X-men in Vancouver. Giving second favourite Jackman, his chance.

I know they're all different characters taking the "Crow" persona. But you gotta admit, the only one worth watching was the first movie. You can actually feel Eric Draven's torment and connect with him. The others weren't that convincing, probably due to horrible scripts. Don't get me started on Edward Furlong's take in Wicked Prayer...
