As quite a few have said, the SMG is bareley seen in the movie and is basically a cut down assault rifle.

The Microwave is a pretty cool design that's significantly different from the other guns that have been released, and we get a good look at it in the rifle range scene.

i don't recall ever reading anyone wanting a microwave gun until this thread, its always been SMG,SMG,SMG.

the microwave gun is pretty bland looking. nice gun but bland.

Hey Zorg...With your talent, you can tweak up the microwave to look even more spectacular.
It is a very unusual looking weapon...more intriguing than a rifle type weapon because of its front dish. Microwave gun may be more of a talking point display gun...quite interesting with its dish structure at the front.

Well...at the end of the day, if Weta decide to produce any of these weapons, they will all sell well, especially if they keep the edition sizes low like the others.
I like the SMG as a backup and/or display gun along side any of the other guns. Whereas the microwave gun seems more of a kick-ass up front specialised weapon. Both are cool. Not easy to decide.... but if Weta build only one of these for production...they just gotta do the SMG !! (My Assault rifle backup snubby).:love

Many people receive the Weta newsletter, they click on the link and just vote without letting a comment. That's all.

What the deal with the canister everyone wants ? :darnkids

It's really a prop I can pass.

It's the kind of prop you buy because of his "background" in the movie, not because this is cool to display. I don't care about it.

However it seems simple to do for Weta, so I guess they will do it one day.

I don't know for you guys, but I just want a new replica, my preference goes for the Microwave but don't you worry Weta I will still buy the sub machine gun.

Here's why I want the canister:

You can see I got this D9 theme in the basement. Is the Fluid Canister that cool?

Not really, but it's critical to the whole plot of the movie.

I'd love to have one displayed because it's so key.

This is also why I'd rather have the Sonic Wave gun over the Microwave and SMG because it played a crucial role in the movie...it saved Wikus' ass.

its too late fb, even multiple voting with my sockpuppet accounts have not closed the gap enough.

I voted for both. Whatever Weta will make is fine with me, I just want more District 9 stuff .. lol

:lol

The SMG is also Greg Broadmore's favorite design so I'm in good company!! The microwave is just a modified Arc Generator and I already have that!!

The SMG is just plain Bad-Ass!! I would love to have a smaller gun to carry around on Halloween!!

I would think the price for the Microwave would be a lot more which isn't that appealing to me..

i don't care if they make it or not now. i will have one. i will make my own.

just need to find the time.

WOW, results so far are very promising, and i think there is a genuine consensus that should other options become available there would be many of us interested, but......

Do you know what will be really interesting, and not to sound negative here, but going by the results of the poll so far, if that number of people for whatever gun may be released will actually buy it, it's all very well saying you would, but would you click buy it now if the option was available right here right now??

ABSOLUTELY YES FOR BOTH.

really surprised at the result so far, i thought the smg would walk it.

Me too. But I'm really happy to see that both guns look like having good numbers. It's not as if only RPF members would be buying.

I don't feel bad voting no, however, because even if they had a million "none" votes, if they have enough 'yes' votes it really doesn't matter that the other people aren't going to buy.

Hoping like hell that you are right. It is looking promising.

LOL! Seriously though, don't the numbers look good enough for both to be worth a shot? Hoping so...

Many votes come from people who just received the Weta Newsletter. :cool

There will be prop fan from around the world to buy it and obviously fools that awake 3 months after when it's sold out and grab it on ebay. :lol

I love the submachine gun but i would much rather purchase the microwave gun just for the fact that it is such an intimidating weapon.

Has it been pointed out yet that the Microwave gun already has more folk saying they'd buy it than the Arc generator had units produced? ;)
