Hey everybody!
I Just registered to rpf because chatGPT adviced to do so :D
I dont know how this site works or if I'm using this function correctly.

Anyways!

I am seeking a valuation and avice how or where to sell for an extremely rare and unique sword crafted by the renowned Weta Workshop, known for their exceptional work on high-quality props and collectibles.

Key Information:

• Origin: This sword was awarded as the grand prize at the Qiddiya Gaming booth during Gamescom 2024. The booth was themed around “Merk Fortress” and “Dragonfell,” and only one sword was given away per day, making it an exceptionally rare piece.

• Craftsmanship: The sword was hand-forged by Weta Workshop, reflecting their signature attention to detail and premium craftsmanship.

• Estimated Value: Event organizers mentioned the sword’s approximate value to be in the mid five-figure range (€).

• Condition: The sword is in brand-new condition, never used, and has been carefully stored since the event.

Authenticity:

While no official certificate of authenticity was provided at the event, I have significant supporting documentation, including:

• Social media posts and videos from Gamescom 2024, specifically featuring the Qiddiya Gaming booth and the sword giveaway.

• Personal photos and videos taken by myself and friends at the moment I received the sword.

Additional Context:

This item is tied to Qiddiya’s broader involvement in the entertainment and gaming industry, positioning it as a unique collectible. Weta Workshop’s reputation further enhances the item’s desirability.

Well, it's very difficult to guess the value since this sword was never sold at retail as far as I can see. The only comparable items would be other swords sold by Weta, most notably being the Lord of the Rings swords that Weta had. Those were limited runs of 10-15 pieces priced in the 5-10k ($US) range. It's important to note those swords were made by Peter Lyon who of course also made the production used prop swords. That connection adds a great deal of value as well as having the notoriety of the LOTR franchise. I'm not familiar with the property this sword is from or if it's even from an existing property or just a one-off original, but I would imagine the buyer market for it is relatively limited. It is very ornate and no doubt of quality. Having a certificate would have helped of course. It might just be one of those items that you have to put out there and test the waters (maybe in an Ebay reserve price listing) to gauge the interest.

Very cool sword though. Congrats on winning it!
