Well, it looks like they made an updated version of Luke's ROTJ saber for TFA...

im afraid I'm going to miss the run. i dont have the free time like i use to, and my dang iPhone app doesn't alert me like it should when new threads or subscribed threads are posted. i remember how fast the first V2 run sold out.. it was just pure luck i made the first slot that time... fingers crossed.

as for the brass pieces that are going to be aluminum. anyone think rub & buff brass would suffice?

I saw someone use Dupli-Color Metalcast Yellow for a brass neck. It looked decent though it's more yellow than brass is. It's a transparent type pf spray paint so if you polish the metal first, it will be a very shiny yellow when painted properly.

aaah very good idea. i was wondering if they aluminum should be primed first, guess not to give it the metallic look

Actually a clear primer (like Dupli-Color Automotive Primer Series - Adhesion Promoter for example) is recommended but was not used on the brass neck I saw. I have used that clear primer and the blue Metalcast paint followed by a gloss clear coat on both chrome and aluminum vintage BMX parts. It looks really nice.

EDIT: Found the pics of the saber with the neck that was done with Dupli-Color Metalcast yellow spray paint (Dupli-Color also makes a Metalcast Orange which might look copper-ish). This was done by a friend of mine. I believe he is on this forum as ObiShane.

that is gorgeous!

I'm not super worried about accuracy when it comes to props so long as they look good, so I'd rather have a close enough saber now than a ultra-accurate one after the book that may or may not show us more of the saber comes out...but that's probably just impatience talking. I want a saber now!!! [emoji12]

No worries. Just wanted to be sure you hadn't decided to put your plans to do a run of these on hold. Like a few others, I want to be sure that I don't miss the upcoming interest thread.

me either I've been checking 3 times a day in the run thread to make sure i dont miss it ;)
