Warehouse 13 - The Tesla Gun

I can't believe the luck, Look what I just got on eBay:

Kenney, now I really need to match those buttons/knobs on the bottom. Any luck finding your parts box for ideas?

I'll be putting this nearly perfect one on eBay soon:

I still need to find out the original source of that black knob and the diameter of the brass, knurled fastener...

I"m pretty sure I've seen lots of those little brass things at the local Habitat for Humanity store - screw parts from lamps or something. I have something I need to take in and I can take a look - do a confirmation picture for you.

Just finished a display plaque for my tesla. Tried to make it look similar to the QMX version using a plaque I stained from Hobby Kobby and a brass door stop.

Nearly finished, thanks to timelordd, for his awesome Tesla replica and RayR for his screen-accurate box. Just need the little black knob on the gauge (hint, hint, Kenney!) and a couple of stainless screws for the "wings" of the gauge. I have an extra short fat rear tube and a ton of copper braid if anyone needs these parts.

Beautiful little piece you've got there!

Excellent work. I love the inner padding and the black velvet. I think it really looks like it came from the period.:cheers

And I know what you mean about that knob. I can't sleep until I find where the original came from and the diameter of the Brass one. I'm sure Kenney is massively busy and in demand, but I'm hoping hell sneak that info in for us fans .

Here is my latest GUSEE about the black knob on the meter. How about it's originally the top adjustment knob on an older walkie talkie...like a police unit? Hmmm

OK, I am officially sick of looking at pictures of knobs! Ray, this is a great guess but I can find no matches for the major brands on eBay. Some old car radio knobs were sort of close, but nothing close enough yet.

I had the same thing with searching for suitable dialplates for the Claudia Farnsworth. My opinion is that they printed their own. Also I think the knob on that has been constructed.

So now I am looking at marker tops for the black knob on the box gauge. Found these, which are close:

(Stacking the end of the purple one onto the silver one.)

Would have to add the index and paint black. The silver has too few ridges and the green is a little too small, but I will proceed and also keep looking.

For the black knob, your probably looking at something off of radio equipment. My dad was a Ham radio operator and I've seen something similar on his equipment years ago.

For the Rockler decorative brass knurled knob, if 1/4" is too big then it's got to be either either 3/16" or 1/8" top. 1/8" sounds too small and 3/16" is odd enough of a size to be discontinued.

Any tips on searching ebay for the boxes? I'm staining a box I got from Amazon but its plain and lacks a lock and I'd rather get a nice piece to use instead. All my search end up with 1000s of results or like 10 which is pretty useless.

Working up a storage case to get signed by as many cast members as I can find at SDCC and Dragon*Con this year with the show wrapping up. Sad about that.

I found several of these exact boxes. The maker of the actual prop says he made the box himself based on an old one. The originals are often listed as Antique Sewing Box, Antique jewelry Box, or just small Antique box. You can also replace the word Antique with Vintage and Victorian. Check eBay US, CA, and UK. I found most of them from the UK after a LOT of searching. That means there is a big shipping cost associated with it. Etsy is where I found one box. BTW, most of the ones I found had an inner tray or a place for one. You don't need it.

With luck you will find one with exactly that pattern...round mother of pearl dots, pewter straight lines connecting them.

BTW, I find it interesting that I was told the box was made for the show, on one of the pictures with the top open you can clearly see a cut-out space (bottom/front/inside/behind key hole) where the key mechanism would be. It is missing. Why would someone put that mechanism cut-away there and not put in the lock? They're relatively easy to find. Plus, Artie uses a key to open the box in the show. (clearly not needed since there is no inner lock, lol)

Thank you Ray!

I actually found a nice, simple box on Amazon that isn't the exact type but something I personally like. My problem is my Tesla is packed away currently because we're remodeling and I can't get it out - I'm fairly sure the interior dimensions of 10.9" wide x 8.4" deep would be large enough but is 2.4" interior height sufficient to hold the Tesla plus the material and padding?

Edit: Answered my own question, dug out the Tesla, the box is 1.7" + .7" in the cover which isn't suitable. Back to the search.

That's cutting REAL close. I have 3"on the bottom section of the box, not counting the lid which adds a little more room. You'll just have to try it when you break out the gun. Sounds like it will be sitting right on the bottom of the box.

They lost the proper key on set or something or the lock got damaged so it was simply removed to make things easier.

Now that the show has been cancelled =( Maybe Kenney will share that info with us. Did he make it, replicate it, or scavenge it? One of the great mysteries of our time.
