The Thing (1982) RJ MacReady cosplay and props (as screen accurate as humanly possible)

Never thought I'd obsess over a characters underwear before
The struggle is real
I must say that I am utterly blown away by these screen accurate blue-lined gloves, such an incredible find. I hope to be so lucky.
Thank you buddy, you can imagine how happy I was when I found them. I just wish the tag/label was still on them to identify them. It gets boring looking for black leather motorcycle gloves on Ebay with so many pages of them

6. The microphone

Although it's not really part of my cosplay I thought I'd share my find.
I searched for vintage cassette recorder microphones and manage to find 3 of what I believe to be the exact microphone MacReady used. The mics were part of a joblot of electrical items and cost quite a bit but I can't complain too much having found 3 of them and all.
7. The Schott IS-674-MS jacket.
The jacket is a bit of a weird one, the collar of MacReady's jacket looks to be altered from the standard chunky collar or maybe it's a 1960's version with a smaller collar but I've yet to find an identical jacket.
I originally purchased a Schott jacket but because I wanted to alter the collar and remove the shearling lining for conventions I purchased a jacket produced by JC Penney which is almost identical and it was a lot cheaper if it didn't work out.
I also swapped the main zipper pull to the screen accurate Schott pull with rectangle hole as opposed to the regular Talon zipper pull that has the semicircle hole.
I'm happy with how the jacket turned out after I trimmed the collar and I used acetone to remove it's shiny finish. I then dabbed it with acrylic paint to give it a similar look to MacReady's as his finish is very mottled and most Schott jackets are a solid brown and again I've yet to find a Schott with that kind of finish.

I was just scrubbing through some of the 4k clips on youtube when I noticed a detail about Mac’s jacket that I think is worth noting with screen accuracy: It seems like the continuity isn’t perfect (expected from 1980s low budget films, so not quite a shocker I guess). During the Norris-thing scene, MacReady is seen with what appears to be a Talon semi-circle zipper. Notably different from the other Schotts rectangular type. Just found it interesting enough to post here quick.

Wow, great spotting. It makes sense that the jacket's overall appearance in that scene looks different to the jacket throughout the movie when the jacket isn't frosted.
Have also noticed yet that there two different styles of flightsuits that MacReady wears too? If you haven't, watch the Norwegian camp scene very closely

Have you found Mac's Hawaiian shirt yet? When he runs back into Outpost 31 after he finds out Blair sabotaged the helicopter. Suddenly he's not wearing his blue hoodie anymore and is wearing some kind of crazy pattern polyester shirt. Major continuity error.

I haven't looked for the shirt as of yet. But it's something I'd like to do in the future.
You're probably already aware that the shirt is also seen in all it's glory in a deleted scene in which MacReady is playing the Chess Wizard game?
