Warehouse 13 - The Tesla Gun

Awesome Tesla Timelordd!

Finishing up Farnsworths so we can get them signed on Saturday and trying to bash together a Tesla gun to with the WH13 costumes for Friday and part of Saturday.

Oh yeah one question, what did you make your grips out of?

Right now I'm using foam with Plasti Dip over it, did the forms the other day but haven't dipped them yet.

The Knob side...

Ok the first version is done. Rather quickly, the whole build was done in 2 days.

Using timelordd's first frames and a spare barrel and the rest is crafted from hardware store parts. The ends of the barrel are large washers, with smaller washers and a brass screw and nut used to hold everything together. Broke a drill bit while drilling out the holes so that's why its a bit "twisted".

The front tube is slotted in via a socket I drilled out in a washer, the rear 2 tubes are placed over appropriately sized nuts and glued on. The grips are a fail and I need to replace them. Foam and plasti dip aren't so great for grips, end up lumpy. So since I have 1 day until Megacon I just appropriately electrical taped it.

Also have a Farnsworth that's being wrapped up right now.

If anyone that is going to megacon wants to see the tesla hit me up at 407-409-9277.
If I don't pick up leave me a message or text me, hope to see you guys there!

Yes I did Jedibugs, but I did find some springs I will use on my personal one.

Unfortunately, a sick girlfriend has precluded me from attending MegaCon after all. Sad face. Which is just as well, because I somehow broke the electronics module for the Farnsworth I've been putting together in time for said con.

Can you share any info about the springs you found? I've bought some spring assortment packs in the hope of finding a match but no luck. On the other hand, I did find a source for what I believe is the perfect copper tubing for the six front-facing copper tubes...AND... It turns out that cutting it with a small $8 pipe cutter from Home Depot produces the EXACT end detail.
Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003JU0XM8

Below are a pic of the end detail, and the little cutter I used to achieve it.

Nice discovery, JB! Don't they carry that copper tube at Home Depot or Lowe's though?

There was nothing near that thin at my Home Depot. The smallest I found was 1/4", I think. And the wall thickness was minuscule. No fit for the project. I didn't check Lowes (AKA: our name is the opposite of our prices) but I would expect similar results. I can't think of any home improvement uses for such a small tube.

I haven't started looking for tesla parts yet.. I might end up having to snag them from amazon as well.

Saul signing my tesla.. he was so impressed with it he took it over to Eddie. Eddie said he wants to see a mini tesla when he goes to dragon con this year, and said he will put up a pic of the other side of it on twitter when they film with it again.

I'll definitely have my mini tesla at dragoncon. Eddie signed our Farnsworths, but I'm not sure if there is enough room on the mini tesla for sigs.

I wonder if Saul is doing Dragoncon this year?

If you can't find a real one there are plenty of good all metal replicas out there even here in Australia. I would buy one here but have no use for it after making a mini-Tesla and they are about $120 here.

I bought a toy capgun online that looked pretty good (especially for the bits I would use in the Tesla) but it turned out to be 3.5" long. Oh well.

not sure but currently looking for a deringer online to mould so i can start on this build

I made the handle for one myself after just looking at pics onlin. The shape isn't really hard to figure out at all.
