Warehouse 13 - The Tesla Gun

Know what's funny, Robram44? I don't have one as well. Lol and I make the darn things. Lol As with many of my builds.... I make just enough thinking I can always go back and make one for myself.

HA!
Kenney, That'll NEVER work!
I try to keep all my originals, (prototypes) and sell the copies. I've spent "way" too much buying a few of them back!
Cheers, Jeff

I plan to build one of these. Being a poor college student who is looking for a part time job (min wage is $8.50 ;) ) how much should I expect to spend to make a Tesla?

It depends on a LOT of things (such as your skills and how exact you want it). If you want an exact copy, and you're pretty handy with metalwork and have access to equipment, then a safe materials cost would be under $200 (give or take).

If you want something that looks close, you could buy the kit for $45 and supplement it with better parts (like actual radio tubes) for another $15-30 and still come in under $100.

The other option is to build one "based" on the one from the show and glue a bunch of stuff together for the time/money it costs for industrial strength glue (~$12), some paint, and what you find lying around the house and other areas (of course getting the tubes will still cost you, but those you can find around if you look hard enough - or, since they're not exact, get them at cheaper antique stores for a couple bucks).

I think I will try my hand at the rifle first. It look a lot easier. Thanks. The scope looks like a blowgun, the volt meter looks like two fishing reels spliced together, the barrel may be a pvc pipe (?) painted black with the tip painted bronze (or has a bronze attachment) with the very tip of it covered with a bit of pluming. The other barrel end has what looks like a similar plumbing part and that is attached to a vacuum tube or something like that. The bar underneath looks like a simple metal tube. Not 100% sure about the stock but I did check the other posts. That looks like one of the harder parts to get.

. Until I start the next feature, I'm finishing up a run of Tesla guns for QMx. I keep forgetting your from Australia. Man, I need to get out your way..... need the vacation and been wanting to get out there.

Cheers
Kenney

Good to hear! I've been anxiously waiting since I ordered in January. The sad thing is they kept telling me it was due to production issues and part failures until about a month ago when I actually asked on the twitter feed.

Found these pix in this little behind the scenes video.

The other side of Claudia's gun.

Claudia's gun (resin) and notice the missing bottom piece on the regular gun.

And how about this one, some sort of prototype.

Hey I am thinking of making a Tesla and the best way for me to make some of the parts (that I can do at home) is to cast them in aluminum. and I was thinking once I have the molds I can make more if there was interest. so would anyone be interested in buying some of the parts that would have to be custom made out of metal (such as the body pieces) if I made them as a kit? I am just seeing if there is interest.

Please Note: they wouldn't be exactly like the ones on the show as I have made some modifications to simplify casting and to improve the design

Please Note: this is not me selling them I am just seeing if there would be interest if I did sell them, if this is also against the no selling policy I will remove it(if notified)

The Junkyard is the place for interest threads. Unfortunately, new members have somewhat restricted access to the JunkYard. I'd read through the forum rules, it will tell you how long you need to be a member/how many posts you need before you get full access to the JunkYard.

Sounds like a good run, though. I'm sure you'd get some interest.

thanks. I didn't know that it also works for interest threads.

Ok I posted earlier about casting a telsa. I want to know what you guys think of my design (as I am planing of going out to buy supplies for the positive tonight) here they are.

Let me know if there is anything you would recommend changing.

You do know the tesla doesn't have a conventional trigger and guard, right?
Might want to change that on your print.

ya I made that change as that makes it easier to cast. also I have made some changes(such as changing how the instrumentation works and adding sights)because in my opinion it would make the tesla easier to use (basically I claudaed my tesla)

Update: I thought about it and I figured out a way that wouldn't be that bad to cast to have the proper trigger, so I will load some updated drawings later. but I am keeping the sights and instrumentation changes because I like how they look and if you ask me they would be easier to use (having the gauge on the visible side, having a arming button (the system acts like there is one already but I like where mine is), and having the settings dial kind of upside down on the other side so that you can easily use it if you tilt the gun on it's side).

We'll be there, but we probably won't bring our farnsworths.. we had Eddie sign them last year, and while we could get saul to sign them, $30 a pop is kinda high just for two more signatures on them.

We wore warehouse 13 costumes 1 day last year, and honestly hardly anyone noticed them, since they are so mundane.
