War Machine pepakura WIP- update 10th sept! fibre glass Stage WOOO! (Pic Heavy)

Re: War Machine pepakura WIP- forearm+boot added 31st july! (Pic Heavy, feedback welc

the shin is actually short by about 5 cm but i had it pushed up pretty far because i wanted it to hold on its own, so i can take the picture. the thigh i scaled up afterwards by 2 cm, and maybe i will redo the shin later. the boot cover is to small anyways, i need to figure out something on that, maybe a fix for both shin and boot cover to add a little paper in between, as i think when i resize the shin, it will look too bulky, i have very long legs.

i finished middle finger, index finger and thumb today, and will post a full hand shot tomorrow, when i finished the rest of the hand :)

Very Nice. This is one of the few pieces that I have left to pep. Would you say its the most difficult piece? Yours looks very nice!

Can't wait to see the glassing and bondo stages, keep up the great work.

actually it wasnt so bad
about 2 hours per finger

the piece i hated most was the boot, but i have no real reason why, i just didnt like it :)
maybe for the fact that i have to cut a perfectly well pepped piece later on because i have to get my foot in there somehow :)

Re: War Machine pepakura WIP- hand pics added 1st August! (Pic Heavy, feedback welcom

1 more update before there wont be as many because i only have to build pieces i allready built on the other side.
here's the neck piece, that i built, and i glued it onto the cut out piece for the head on the chest piece so it fits in there perfectly :)

Re: War Machine pepakura WIP- neck pics added 3rd August! (Pic Heavy, feedback welcom

so, today i started my tape dummy because i didnt want my pep to be lying around on the floor all the time :) took about half an hour, and 10 euro so far, its still missing a sceleton but that will be worked on tomorrow (gotta get piping) so far, it consists of a painters suit, 3 rolls of duct tape and a lot of sweat

i have to let it dry because its all sweaty inside, even tho we were done in less than 30 minutes. also i lost some of my skin while my help was cutting me open :) got cut lines over my body everywhere, but thats a small price to pay :)

so, here are the pics of tapie :) i didnt yet tape the back together because i will do that after i, put the sceleton in and stuffed the legs, to have more space for stuffing etc and to let the sweat dry :)

Re: War Machine pepakura WIP- dummy pics added 4th August! (Pic Heavy, feedback welco

so an update, got my dummy finished, and also biceps, elbow and forearm are finished for both arms!
but i cant get the hip pod on but i dont know why. chest too because of the inflexible arms :( so i have to wait for those to get to resin and bondo and get it over then (cut open chest on one side, and hip just to get more stable so i can be a bit rougher) so here it is, besides my home cinema screen, where its final stand will be :)

p.s. kudos to the person who can tell me what tv series the screen shot is from :)

Re: War Machine pepakura WIP- update 8th August! (Pic Heavy, feedback welcome)

hey another update :) i finished pepping all the parts, and if the weather is good tomorrow, i will start resining :) assuming i can get the hardener-resin mixture right :)

so here are 3 progress pics

Re: War Machine pepakura WIP- update 15th August! (Pic Heavy, feedback welcome)

Sooo much pep work! You're printer must be beat!:) Looking good so far man. Resin-hardener mixes are easy, if u put too much in you just gotta brush like crazy before it hardens on u:p

yeah thing is ive never done it before and im not afraid of the too much hardener but too little, and it not hardening at all, and to let a good pep piece go to waste because of that :/

Re: War Machine pepakura WIP- update 15th August! (Pic Heavy, feedback welcome)

Started resining today, did 1 outer coat on both shoulders, neck and helmet. I didn't really measure hardened just added a little by guessing. I guess it was a little much because it got hard when I was halfway through with the helmet, but it allready was the last part so no hard feelings. Now the helmet has some spots with those jelly pieces on it but that can be handed. I'm waiting for it to cure as I want to ad 1 more layer on the inside today, and maybe fiberglass. Will see how many more hours of daylight I get :)
It's quite nice that the resin changes its color when enough gardener is added, so I don't have to weigh that **** :) too bad this is the last day before going on holiday, so the rest will have to wait till September. I hope it stays warm in September as,I can't work inside :( pictures will be added later on

Re: War Machine pepakura WIP- update 15th August! (Pic Heavy, feedback welcome)

ah well its 7 pm allready, so no more work today, so i only have 1 coat but meh.

at least i got to try it before my vacation so im happy :)

here are the pics!

1 thing that is wrong: i bought terpentine instead of acetone, and that doesnt really work on the brush cleaning, so i guess i need a new brush :/

Re: War Machine pepakura WIP- update 16th August! Resin Stage WOOO! (Pic Heavy)

You'll always need a new brush each time you use the resin. Don't try and clean it off.

You can buy a box of small and medium size brushes from Harbor Freight Tools for dirt cheap.

Google it to find prices.. I cannot remember off hand.

i found some sources that say they leave the brush in acetone over night and reuse it a few times

cheap brushes dont exist here, sadly. the cheapest one i found was 2 euros, thats what i bought. austria sucks ...

Re: War Machine pepakura WIP- update 16th August! Resin Stage WOOO! (Pic Heavy)

I've gone to using the foam 'brushes' when working with resin or epoxy. They are penny's each and I don't have to keep picking loose brush hairs out of the resin (which happens with cheap brush-versions). :unsure

Re: War Machine pepakura WIP- update 16th August! Resin Stage WOOO! (Pic Heavy)

nice work on the pep dude... good job!:thumbsup... reminded me of the time we did our 1st build... war machine is the first pep me and my brother ever tried... we've only done the helmet so far but planning to build the whole suit too... good luck with the resining but the hardest part i should say is the body filling (bondo) portion where attention to details are very crucial:wacko...

our war machine helm is not yet totally finished but you may check it out...

keep it up man... cheers!:)

Re: War Machine pepakura WIP- update 16th August! Resin Stage WOOO! (Pic Heavy)

great work on the motorization, i wish i could do that but im bad with electronics
well i will have to convince my brother to do it, as he is studying stuff like that :D

i know bondo stuff is the hardest, but meh, what else to do
i allready have the putty but i will resin everything first as the putty also works when its a bit colder and as i can only go on resining in the beginning of september, this maybe bad :)

I hear about someone using those silicone brushes used in the kitchen.
Because they are made from silicone they don't stick to the resin as the other brushes do.
Seems like it would work.
