EDIT:
I just read that asking for Tardis blueprints may be considered a no-no, as such my apologies. However, if there are any technical manuals out there that are free game, please post links or PM me with more info.
Looking to do a 1:1 scale or 1/6 scale replica of the newest version.

I've never seen anyone post blueprints anywhere, only seen people reference them anywhere from 42-52 inches in outer width. One of the better websites that shows comparisons of the different versions is at A History of the Real Police Box or Doctor Who A History of the TARDIS Police Box Prop and its Modifications Should be enough photo reference that if you decide to build one you can just scale based off of your width. They give some location coordinates too of some of the real ones, if you can get a UK member to pull dimensions for you.

I don't know what you're talking about as a no-no.. (edit: oh, I see.. exact measurements may take a little googling and digging to find, since nobody wants to run afoul of the beeb..)

For an excellent building manual, just go here.
Welcome to the TARDIS Library

Dude has his TARDIS Builder's Workshop Manual on there if you poke around (Try clicking on Replicas > Building Your Own!)

You'll also be treated with history of Police Boxes all over the place.

BBC is pretty C&D happy over Dr Who stuff. They've even managed to acquire the copyright to the original police boxes. It's a poke the sleeping bear risk.

Im certainly not trying to open a can of worms over this, but would still like to try doing it without causing trouble with BBC.
Would anyone want a 1/6 scale replica?? I was thinking of having that made first just to show we could do it then maybe take an order for a full size replica - but shipping would be a few hundred dollars alone as it would have to have a crate built for the pieces.

There were a few original Police call boxes for sale on the web recently. I apologize that I cannot provide a link, however.

We are looking to do a full-scale version made from wood but I have already spoken to my father about it and he agrees it would be time consuming and costly to make - and have a hefty price tag.
I'm sure we could find an eccentric collector out there that would invest several grand in one, but I think doing a 'studio scale' version to start would be a great idea.
Are there any Hot Toys style Doctor Who dolls out there? If so, I would try and build the Tardis to scale with those.

I'm gonna toss a couple of things out here. The short answer is.. Yes, there would be interest in 1:6th versions of the Tardis. Possibly (probably) even the different variations on the box.

I built one for myself a while back that turned out pretty decent (though I've seen far better) and I know a few others on here have too.

Here is another (though his pics seem to have evaporated)

and I'm fairly certain it went on ebay shortly after that. I know a guy on the sideshow forums who I'm fairly certain has that box.
Speaking of the sideshow forums.
Sideshow Freaks - Doctor Who
There are a number of wonderful custom 1:6th Doctor Who figures.. literally all of the Doctors are covered to one degree or another.

That image is fantastic, and really helpful, as i'm trying to build TARDIS doors in a low basement without much room to work with - guess i'm going with the Tom Baker box!

Would love to see this picture with the Matt Smith box and without the Usual Suspects text!

Thanks for the links - and great image.
It would be fairly inexpensive to buy the materials, but it's really the time and effort that will go into making it that would make it an expensive product.
One thought would be to build the masters out of wood, then mold them for casting parts in resin and offer as kits or completed models.
Not sure about adding lights - may have to leave that open for the buyer to add.

Have you looked at the plans in the Technical manual that the BBC issued years ago ? I know the Dalek is considered very wrong but I don't know how accurate the Tardis is. The back of the book event has a cut out and fold model of it.
