Dude, if you're not too far away, set up a time and place and I would gladly take some spidey+venom photos with this monster creation of yours. It would be the coolest.

Alas im in Canada , Stratford, Ontario. im close to Toronto and fairly close to New York...look like your in L.A....would be awesome. I plan on attending conventions in the future and its been my dream of getting to the San Diego con. this venom is a commission but ive cast head and im making another just because..lol but yeah you will get your chance sooner or later..

Holy cow...those are some sick costumes of both venom and carnage. Kudos to you and your unbelievable skills mikefu.....I simply have no words.

On this thread there are now two people who baffled and played with my mind through their creations and have now made me eager to start a new project (of uncharted territory xD). Lunaman has made me start working on an ultimate spiderman and you mikefu have inspired me to start working on my own carnage and eventually venom. After all this I have a question mikefu.....I live in Malta a place were some products are not available here since it is a small island and everything is imported according to need and good clays for making the mask are not found. This is my question......do you know if polymer clay is good for working on making a sculpture for carnage head? What material have you found suitable for then making the mould out of the sculpture? I am still doing research atm but I am totally new to moulding and casting and there are a lot of products and materials being sold for that purpose and I am getting confused.

Thanks for your help,
czar0004

thank you very much. this thread has inspired me as well and its guys like lunaman and others as well as yourself through comments and encouragement that makes me want to do better....the whole point of this site ...i havent been doing this long(costuming) but i ve been an artist my whole life and it all about adaptive , and relatable skills.. theres alot of info thanks to internet so you dont have to look far.
I come from a small island as well Newfoundland off the east coast of Canada and from small village there so using available stuff is what i know and theres always
different solutions.
what i use now is monster maker clay . its nice and holds alot of detail. but use what you can get ...just read up on them so you dont mistreat them. oil based clays are easy but make cost a little more. water based are fine and you can play with consistency(with water0 make slip etc and get some great detail. you can fire it in a homemade kilm as well. whatever you have access to will be fine. ploymer clay is great stuff but may be expensive for you to get in any quantity..i used it for venoms teeth .

i cast in rubber...because i want to reproduce them. if you just want one good copy for yourself you can use other stuff...plaster of paris, clay, plaster bandage, , even paper mache. rubber is nice because its tough , can get great reproductions and more pulls from them. and you can have undercuts in your sculptures with out problems .it doesnt stick to much so you dont need mold release.back it with plaster bandage. i find this works best ..easy to use and convenient.
theres alot of products and can be confusing but what will determine what you use is access, and need just get what you need to get job done at level you want.. youtube has vids for everything it indispensable.
dont break the bank and have fun

cheers

I would TOTALLY trade! Lol. But DAAAMN if I were to attempt a build like this, this is how I would picture it in my head. GREAT WORK BRO!

Btw you said its cast in rubber? Would it fit me? 6'5"... Man I would just buy yours. I still can't believe the outcome. #betterthansonysvenom

thanks alot, ive been on a symbiote kick and love your concept ..has alot of potential..love the mask .
I cast using a rubber silicone mold product .the mothermold is plasterbandage , the shell supporting the rubber. the mask is cast flexfoam III . the body is handsculpted 1 and 2 inch apolstry foam.
i make them to whatever size. ive got a friend your size..."the samsquantch.".. i use as model for you big boys..lol
Im airbrushing and installing fabric for lens...havent done it before tried wire mesh last time but i read scrim material is best??? ill let you know.

My goodness...so crazy watching your childhood hop out of the comics/tv/videoganes and step into reality. But that's what makes cosplaying awesome! Great work!

well the final stage is here finially. this the approved Venom head . its way cooler in person I have to buy a camera instead of this cellphone pic crap..lol
used the metallic highlights
got this by
- suit was basic(flat works best) black
-then paint silver in the areas that will be highlighted. did this with dry brush to pop some sculpt detail and keep organic feel. i just use sculpt as roadmap...the works already done .
then i used sky blue (airbrush for rest) and painted over silver( with irridesent medium mixed in for slight color change for bug/spidey feel)
-used metallic blue and shadowed highlight area.
-went back with gloss black..to pop details and give me two tone black and generally adding more depth to mask paint.
DONE
i used a little clear in paint so i would not have to finish at end and also clear can crack if applied to thick and this mask is super flexible and wanted to keep that ruggedness.

hands next

am very happy with it

the eyes are done as well the . i used theartre scrim cloth other wise known as sharkstooth at the fabric store...fitting...lol same stuff i used for the skin on the body ..greats stuff.

Damn that is probably the best venom head I've ever seen. Keep up the good work!

that would be sweet..this Venom is a commission and will be gone today or tomorrow out west to Alberta for a client to take to Calgary expo. I am getting the carnage suit back for some additions upgrading the teeth more in line with half mask i just did and more tendrils and new paint , i found a nice red metallic latex supplier close by so id like to give him the paint i originally intended20131213_165802.jpgIMG_20140326_191308.jpg. . Im lining up a photo shoot in Toronto for then and will have the carnage suit and client permission to use it so you can go toe to toe with my carnage fairly soon probably around end of may/ june. im also making another venom for the august convention in Toronto and you can take on the big boy there . 20131213_170047.jpg

loving you build btw, looks very clean and im looking forward to seeing more pics..keep up the good work
