venom costume build

Yeah, awesome version of the mask! I do like the changes to the eyes and the teeth. It's funny how it looked amazing on the first version, but compared to the current version, v1 was not great. Nothing can be better.... until it is.

What size is the suit built to fit?

the suit is built for a guy 5'11" husky 250 lb dude. i adjust the proportions of suit profile and silouette to match body type. this venom will be thick muscle with large upper body. wide back. thick shoulders and arms ape like. that happens to be my favorite version of venom so that works out in my favor this time.

cheers

The second one you'll make will be setup to fit whom ever buys it, or have you decided against the second suit? I know you'd sell it once it's done no matter what... your costumes are top notch.

yeah i have the mask mold for people who want mask only or full suit. the suit is tailored to client they are general sizes since i cant do fittings with most of my clients as they are all over. I customize as much as possible. at a certain point i will make one anyway just to have one and id sell it but it will be made for average 5'10"-6ft range with medium build. id like to get a couple to some expos and cons for exposure maybe drum some biz. theres a big show here in Canada in the summer at Toronto , ill have one ready for that for sure if i dont get any takers before.
Im still very new to business but iam a quick study.

so i have the go ahead this is next sculpt ill start in tandem with venoms body. same process ill start in clay for sculpt then cast and mold. I think this one may be foam latex and form fitting. venom sketch 1 inked7.jpg

well, got the tongue started . may try a couple , there are a couple versions . this one is growing on me. just needs some green slime20140224_203621.jpg20140224_203657.jpg20140224_203741.jpg20140224_203754.jpg20140224_203829.jpg20140224_204215.jpg20140224_204238.jpg20140224_204250.jpg

I'm not a fan of big sticking out appendages., especially since it is sticking straight out. I can see this as being trouble. What if it came out of the side, at the same point, then curved straight downwards, then back up and down and out. you know, like the classic serpent style. This would put the tongue out of the field of view, but still have it around.

Also, since the tongue will be magnetic, I would plan on allowing the mobility in the suit itself for the wearer to be able to reach around and grab it to stick it on and off by himself. I know there is always limited mobility/vision in costumes and my biggest problem with a lot of costumes, especially bulky ones is the inability to do the small things like this by myself.

Also, how are you planning on having the person able to see out of the mask? Will the white of the eyes eventually become a white mesh?

i never thought id say this but

i think im in love with this crazed symbiotic, murderous phycopath.

lol, anyway keep up the work dude

lots of questions..lol
the tongue is poseable , i put wire frame inside so it can snake , curl whatever, its made from foam, fabric and latex tough and flexible and pose however you want. the plan is it will wag while wearing as it is controlled by chin and mouth movement these pics are to show full extent for client . the tongue can be removed and put on while wearing mask.
the mask will have eyes similar to carnage with white mesh design incorporated. they work great and with the eyes and the mouth the host field of vision isnt bad at all.20131215_162354.jpg

ok! Looks like you have thought it all through them :D The posable tongue is perfect.

One thing, from looking at the carnage mask I wonder about is the ability to see the person wearing the mask through the mouth. Since it's a wide open mouth. What about some sort of blackout mesh? Or should the person under wear a balaklava or paint their face black, so the bright skin doesn't show through...

i make the suits from lycra morph suits that are black and cover face with hood. i dont remove them but incorporate them in design . saves me a step and solves that problem.the tongue will attach to this with rare earth magnets sewn and latexed in for secure fit but mobility

hey all
took another stab at the tongue, made a "hero" tongue . its longer more articulate and poseable, i put armature wire instead of a wire coat hanger armature in first. once anchored to bottom of mouth with magnets (magnets rock)it can reach farther and wrap around stuff and or people , thought id make two for client. you can have fun with the long one or the more sinister short tongue.thats it for the tongue im on to hands now and body suit.20140227_094810.jpg20140227_094916.jpg20140227_095006.jpg20140227_095103.jpg20140227_100329.jpg20140227_100800.jpg20140227_100514.jpg20140227_102150.jpg20140227_102550.jpg20140227_102223.jpg20140227_102635.jpg20140227_102654.jpg20140227_095953.jpg

Dude, this is such an amazing Venom... This is a great character to draw but a difficult character to have in the real world and look "right". You've done an outstanding job. I'm loving your changes to the eyes and the upper teeth... The tongue is legit.

Hellll yeahhhh! Words can't express my love for this build or how $#@%ing sick it is turning out to be. Why aren't you in the film business with these things?!?!

hey
thanks again for all the encouraging posts I appreciate the support and it only drives me to do better. thats why we are here and to share...so i said id post more construction pics and ive been so busy Ive lapsed on that so...Oversized hands can be a bitch to do but ive got a simplfied way of doing them for you hope it helps those who are interested out and if you have any questios i didnt answer just ask ill do my best to explain better.
Here is the first stage of venom hands. all major muscle groups have been blocked in (tip: when your figuring out the muscle groups on the one hand make double right away and label with marker the sequence, this will help with second hand alot depending how elaborate you get with design)
- spray glued foam (3m super 77) to the gloves that I removed from the lycra body suit i then seemed a couple stress points with got glue to make them secure . they are made of regular cushion foam from local Fabricland store. carved them with an olfa utility knife and olfa scissors...go olfa
-
.I put armature wire in the fingers making them fully poseable . . next i will the wire runs full length of finger to the wearers knuckle . this allows for wider grip and easier to manipulate fingers.

- next is the detail sculpt phase where i will sculpt the muscles in hand add tendons and senew then ill put some veins on and texture foam before i cover in sheer fabric and latex.
will post those steps later.
