Vader MPP lightsabers details and specifications

Also, that was a 2-step shroud; I think most of the value is in single-step shrouds due to their rarity.
I had 9 MPPs so far but only managed to find 2x single-step shrouds.

And I'm pretty sure less than 200 single-step variants were originally produced by the factory.
The number of ones surviving today is probably lower than 100.

Where are you getting your data from? So you're saying that between you, me and teecrooz we own 10% of the single step shrouds left in the world? As intriguing as that may be, I find it hard to believe...

It's definitely not a concrete data.
But, I kept a record of all the serial numbers of MPPs I had and whatever I could find online.

Also, from what I understand, single-step shroud MPPs were produced earlier, which seems to line up with the serial number theory.
Considering how single-step MPPs are much harder to come by than two-step MPPs, I think the proportion of around 200:1300+ lines up.

Upon further thinking, probably more than 100 are still surviving today because MPPs were produced later than Graflex.
But, I only know of less than 25 single-step shrouds accounted for in-and-out of this community.

Again, all this is just an educated guess and theory, so I could be totally off.

What do you guys think about this d-ring:

I'd say it looks a bit too thick. The MPP D-rings should have a 1.7mm wire diameter.
Was that a discovery made here? Is there a thread to read. I didn't notice it on this one in my perusing but I may have missed it. There's a lot of info to rifle through, lol!

Sorry: I edited the diameter to 2.2mm.
No, there's no discovery. It's the result of my 3D perspective matching during the development of my upcoming steel cast shroud production run.

Bradberry00 Not for now, no I haven't considered it. I'm first working on the next steel shroud run and as far as I'm concerned that's the only screen accurate version! There are plenty of alu replicas out there. I'm not sure if mine would make that much of a difference. I don't like doing what other's are doing already (unless I think I can improve it)

I would argue it would make a difference since aluminum is accurate to the ANH MPPs, and even though Roman is making his version his shroud wall is too thick according to the reference photos I believe, and his are made of cast zinc not aluminum. I am finding a need for quite a number of aluminum and steel shrouds for screen accurate builds and have had to settle for Roman when I know there are more accurate options possible but that haven't been tapped yet in the aluminum realm. :) After the steel run is done, I would encourage you to consider an aluminum. :) Ideally, it would be fantastic if both steel and aluminum WW MPP shrouds could be available as often as Kobold clips or T-track grips are available, but I imagine there is an unfortunate variable impeding that as a possibility?

Thanks Nate,
Yes, I see your point and you're right. The problem in the past was the amount of work it was to apply the wrinkle paint finish to them. But since I have now access to new and good manufacturers, I will consider it!

Glad you are considering it, I would be fine with a raw aluminum option too. It is mainly the leading edge on the replica shrouds that isn't right. The real ones I have seen (in photos only mind you) appear to be very thin.

Fabulous, roygilsing , thank you! Actually, might it be possible to just sell them bare, without paint? Because then that would allow the buyer to determine the treatment, i.e., the amount of weathering they prefer or whether to just paint it and have it look as new without weathering.

If you were to have them all pre-painted, it might make weathering them slightly more challenging. Just a thought. As long as we could have access to aluminum/steel MPP shrouds within reason, that would be fantastic! :)

If anyone is doing a run of 'accurate' single-step MPP shrouds, I would also suggest putting a clear tell to prevent replicas from being falsely passed off as real deals.

Simple laser etching or engravings can be sanded away, so I recommend dimensional tells

Aside from the crinkle paint finish and thumbscrews, what are the differences between WW aluminum shroud and real MPP single-steps?
I've seen many people (including veterans) mistake between the 2.
