V For VENDETTA: The movie props

Problem with that is that most aren't "accurate" :thumbsdown I've been looking for one for some time now.. :(

Kylash327, keep us updated. I am also very interested in this conversion. :thumbsup

By the way, has anyone else seen the prototype pics of the 12" resin statue that NECA is coming out with this fall? For the most part, it's pretty neat, except that the hair is WAY too short and thin:

They're also coming out with a 7" Action Figure, apparently:

EDIT: I just read that the 12" prototype shown in the pic above (shown at SDCC) is actually a 2-up of the 7" figure done in the pose that the statue will be in, which makes sense. I'm less worried about that head and hair sculpt now, though I'm very interested in seeing some pics of the finished statue.

any idea the price of the statue? It wont be just one of their big talking figures? A little overdone on the suit texture there..but i like it otherwise.

Retail price on the 12" Resin Statue is $149.99.

The 7" figure will be around $8-9.

Darth Mule, that looks fantastic. Can't wait to see it at Dragon*Con.

Where did you find that fabric, by the way?

Thanks JC.

Found it at a little fabric store in Atlanta call Gail K. It's one of the big name stores in the southeast along with Mary Jos in Gastonia, NC (that's me dropping knowledge for the people that live close enough to make the trips). Anyway, they had very little of it left, I just lucked up. $40.00 a yard. Haven't spent that much on fabric for personal projects since I made my kilt.

I live in the Atlanta area. I might need to hit them up soon to see if they by chance have gotten anymore in. Is there a name for the fabric that you got?

Silk... It's black and has a diamond shape in it. They had it in Black and Blue. The diamonds run so you'd have to cut on the crossgrain (side-to-side) to get the taller diamond. They said it wasn't re-orderable, but couldn't hurt to check.

So some new progress made today. Belt is nearly finished, I just have to revisit the dagger frogs and figure out a closure. Here's my newly cast buckle. Turns out pewter is both fun and easy to work with. Who knew? Melt it on the stove. Anyway, I carved this out of balsa, sanded, shellacced, negative cast in silicone, recast in Pewter. Need to do the cleaning up still, but here's what I have so far. The squares are an inch each, so you can see it's a bit larger than the one Russrep was offering, which IMO was wayyyyyyy too small. This one will accept a 2.5" belt. Tho the V belt is shaped, so it's actually thicker everywhere else. Mine is 3.5 around the waist and 2.5 where it goes thru the buckle.

Looks great.

Pewter is essentially solder, hell, you can weld it with a soldering iron using and solder as filler rod.

2 1/2" for the belt, eh? I've tried scaling the daggers off the belt and came to thinking it was a 2" belt. I would love to see how this fits in with the whole costume.

great job. Man, ive been trying to just cut that belt out of some vinyl, and that is the weirdest shape, to have it be higher in the back and hang a little in the front and go from thick to thin...do you have any kind of pattern or anything you made you could share?

Okay, surely by now someone must be able to produce some accurate V masks (as in, something close to the DC Direct replica).

ANYONE???

oookay just picked up dc direct #131, and held it next to my rubies. It really does make the Rubies look like garbage.. every feature is skewed. I did think initially it was fairly close.....but it really is quite far off...Ill take a few snaps to illustrate what Im rambling on about.
IMO. :)

Time to raise this thread from the dead, as it's getting close to time for me to start my Dragon Con projects, and V will be back this year.

Anyone have any luck with more accurate masks? I'm about to start a sculpt to my own lifecast, so I can have a nice comfy mask to wear. I may be in the market for a good painter since my skills leave a little to be desired.

In the next couple of weeks I will dig out the old molds and start to clean them up. I've been promising a run of buckles for some time now. Life just interfered.
