UPDATE - Portal 2 Trailer with in-game video

Re: FREE GAME: Portal for Mac & Windows

I mean geez, they're slowly fixing all the stupid faults of the mac. First the lack of a left click, now the games.

Not every gamer sticks with the mouse that comes with the computer, and all the mice that PCs have can also run on a Mac with no drivers needed. Not to mention the fact that Apple has been providing a two-button mouse as a standard for five freaking years. So if you do the math, anyone who still uses a Mac that came with a single button mouse, their machine wouldn't be capable of playing Valve games to begin with.

There are two comics out there right now that are under the delusion that Apple still releases a single button mouse and it's getting redundant and flat out stupid. It's like making fun of a one-legged person for not being able to walk even though he has two legs and can walk fine.

I'm not saying you shouldn't diss Apple. Please do. Those buggers killed iMovie and are making all sorts of goofy decisions that I don't support.

Re: FREE GAME: Portal for Mac & Windows

Thanks for posting this. I was almost late for work this morning after playing a few rounds. :)

I hope that I can get home before this offer expires! I've been looking for an excuse to get Portal, and this would be ideal.

Re: FREE GAME: Portal for Mac & Windows

I am posting from an Intel iMac, snow leopard native, that came with a single click mouse.

It is true that it is easy to use a better mouse (read: any PC mouse) than the one apple provides, but of the 8 or 10 apple computers I've seen purchased here at work over the last 5 years (each superior to the last), not one has come with a two-button mouse.

Go to your system preferences and try to set a function for the right button... I don't think any mice have shipped with leopard that were one-button mice, despite the one-piece body design.

I stand corrected!

Re: FREE GAME: Portal for Mac & Windows

I've actually not played a game on computer (Mac or PC) for 5-6 years and was able to finish Portal in less than 4 hours. Lots of fun and a nice story line for what started out as a proof-of-concept programming piece. I hope that Portal 2 has more depth and won't be so easy to finish quickly.

I remember seeing past threads about the Portal gun and the Companion Cube but after playing the game I see the draw. Would love to have a small cube for my desk, not the plushie...

Re: FREE GAME: Portal for Mac & Windows

Either I missed seeing/hearing the radio the first run through or they changed something with a recent update but I dropped into a few of the levels to show a friend the game and that dang radio is everywhere. I do remember seeing it in a few levels, especially the start.

Stupid tune is stuck in my head now... ;)
