TRON toy Deluxe ID Disc. Mod./Enhancements

I honestly believe there is a way to do this stuff and make all the information on how to do it 100% free for those who want to do it themselves.

The board

thingm :: an electronic product studio: Home

More specifically the Blink M

thingm :: an electronic product studio: BlinkM

or the Blink MaxM

http://thingm.com/products/blinkm-maxm.html

Could be possible to use the standard free open source BlinkM Sequencer software thats on the same webpage to program and control the LEDS color and animation routines.

The lights

"5050" 12v 120 Viewing Angle SMD LEDS Strands (Google or Ebay it) White or RGB- I suggest RGB, because there are ways to control the color choices the LEDs display. Since the various disc color choices are all over the place.

Information of how to wipe and reprogram the micro-controller to do things like LED sequence animations.

If either of the Blink M's and BlinkM Sequencer are not enough to get the desired color and animation effects. I believe a rough start to another solution lays here in these YouTube videos and the weblink they mention near the end.

Ive been impressed with this since before i joined the board here (it actually made me want to so i could learn lol)

I don't have any real electronics expertise at all, the only thing ive done is assisting in the fitting of SMD light strips in a car interior and all i did was vacuum form fixtures for them to rest in, i didn't do any of the electronics.

All i want to do is just a simple light up for a wall display, so ive got myself 2 12v 24 LED SMD strips in white that im going to fit to it for the outter ring, though i'm not sure about what to do power source wise. I have an old N battery holder in my drawer that an A23 battery fits into perfectly, but i have no idea how long the life would be having never done it before but i guess its trial and error really.

I only ordered the strips last night so hopefully ill get a crack at it soon lol

Does anyone have any links to high quality sound files for a possible sound chip? The ones used in the toy are terrible quality and don't sound like anything I heard in the movie.

That might have as much to do with the "speaker" in the toy (probably in reality a piezo element) as the quality of the sound files on the chip.

I don't know if this has been said in this thread but it looks as if you are doing the outside ring blue and the 'c' ring white, I might be wrong, but in the movie they are the other way around.

i apologize if i missed something in all the posts, but would it be possible to get a circuit map of your wiring for that disc? its absolutely amazing and once i get some time i was thinking of making a new shell completely from scratch 1:1 with your wiring. i think that would be an awesome product.

I am going to assume that this new Mod will use the existing push button Switch on the disc. I am also curious if you will be able to re-incorporate the sound Capabilities and motion sensing. Also I know your already stuffing allot into this disc but do you think their might be room enough for a flash Drive and/or DC power port?

P.S. This Project is so awesome and thank you for doing such a great job and inspiring us all.
