TRON toy Deluxe ID Disc. Mod./Enhancements

I understand why you don't want to do the electronics kit. But is there any chance that you might tell us what electronics parts you used for those of us who would like to give it a try ourselves?

interesting. Though the one in the film did have the C light up on both side, and the initial activation did have the sixteen segments.

I wish i had the microcontroller knowledge to pull that off

Propmaster, like you my limited electronics knowledge is old school. I keep trying to work out in my head how to do this but I keep missing something. I know that once I figure it out that I will kick myself for not thinking of it sooner.

I'm trying to think of some kind of low-end solution. EL sheeting around the edge of the blade or something. I've got one of the toys, and while the shape and size is good, the lighting does leave quite a bit to be desired.

Propmaster, yours.. just.. wow. :)

AWESOME job Propmaster!!!!! Wish mine looked like that. :) Now, give me your address so that I can ship my discs to you for you to mod. Thanks ;) LOL

This isn't quite as nice as some of them, but for fully custom work I'm proud of it.

SMD strips and the clear disc from a Kevin version.

Still going to order one from Soulinertia, and keep this as a version I don't mind abusing a little bit at events.

Very nice work on the first disk! Amazing!

I'm going to modify mine with about 70,3mm leds,in series, with a 12 volt camera battery. This shoud give plenty of power ( with the use of resistors here and there ), and plenty of light, and save alot of room. What I'm hung up on is how to mount the leds to the outer disc, for their full potential.

I would love to get the lighting sequence you have for the first disc you did, but i'm still doing electrioncs oldschool! So I think I will settle for a complete glowing ring.

Oh, did you purchase your leds, in bulk from China? Cause it's alot cheaper, but I'm really curious about the quality of the bulk led purchase.

Thanks, I appreciate it :)

Here is a quick picture I took here at work of the inside:

I have received many emails (via youtube) asking if I will be doing a basic LED modification or some kind of tuturial on how I would light a disc with just LEDs, battery and switch configuration (with no control circuits)....

I am kicking around the idea of maybe doing a "Project Build CD" to sell, which would highlight the entire build to enhance a TRON Legacy disc with simple electronics.

It would have video and photo references along with what tools and materials would be required. Basic hand and power tools (exacto, drill, etc.), Dremel with variety of bits and cutting disks, soldering iron (station), some wiring, etc.
Along with where to purchase the electronics (LEDs) and glue used in stores and on-line.

The builder could purchace the items as needed, at there leasure and work on the project at there own pace.

This is just a thought.....

I like what you have done with the start up and motion
