TRON toy Deluxe ID Disc. Mod./Enhancements

Prop master: That looks amazing! A good place to find super bright LED lights is in push lights in dollar stores that use them. I got about 15 or so out of one once and put them in my proton pack :D

Dude!

The vid looks just like the movie! There did seem to be a subtle spinning when sam first pulls out his disc to fight. When he looks at it.

Do you have a list of all the parts and where you ordered them? Want to try my hand at this! Feel free to shoot me a PM.

It really looks great man.

If anyone hasn't given suggestions for the direction, consider this.

It is a flat, two sided prop with fixed electronic sequence. This means the direction of both sequences depends on which side is being held out.

This means the sequence can be flipped during handling. I imagine it will be very difficult to find any material that completely answers this question.

Ignore if this has already been discussed.

Looks great! I hope to do something similar with my toy ID disc.

What sort of (I assume) microcontroller are you using to drive the LEDs? PIC?

When I started thinking about doing this project it was sometime after I had completed an earlier electronics challange of another light replica.
I had told myself never again.
There was hundreds of solder connections done under a bright light and table top magnifier.

This project is turning out to be no different.
I worked another day and a half (I obviously have no life) on the center "C" LED circuit and have now joined it with the "outer blade" circuit.
I did another youtube video of the bench test before I actually fit it to the upper and lower shell. It has occured to me that there probebly is a much simpler way to do this then what I have done and I am sure someone will come up with it soon ( besides Rick, who has already made the hero :) )

I am thinking nexnox will design an electronics circuit that will make his custom TRON disk look amazing! I too can't wait to see his lit up.

In the mean time, I will labor away at the toy....

HOLY BEJESUS!:love:love:love:love:love:love Amazing work. Now if I only knew where you live, I could plot my scheme to steal it from you when you are done....:angel But seriously, I would buy one of these in an instant if I could find some money.

As long as you got the groove going on this, PM me if you will do up a few for me. Money for your efforts anyway.

Most definitely be willing to pay for a circuit scheme or a whole kit if this is a route your willing to go ,great work by the way

Just rewatched the trailers, and it seems that there are 2 lighting modes based upon use.

Yes, I just watched the video too and found it cool that there were 2 modes of use in the lighting.

IDENTITY DISC MODES

Battle Mode: Outter and inner light rings turn on, with the outer ring lights cycling around the outer ring creating a pulsing effect.

Power On & Continous Memory Mode (worn on back): Inner light ring powers clockwise in a stepped fashion. When the inner ring power up is complete, the outer ring faintly turns on with a dim steady glow evenly around the whole outer blade.

Am I missing anything here?

Well here I am again....

First I want to thank thoughs that took the time to post how much they like my efforts on my TRON disk project. I really appreciate it :)

It was way more work to get it to this juncture then I had first envisioned, but once I past a certain point, I had to continue.

Anyone that is familiar with my work, know that my electronics is a bit unorthidox and I do it pretty much my own way and not the "standard electronic" way. I do not have the skills necessary to program pic's or the arduino microcontroller, I just use what I know, from my early years of electronics, making repeat builds and kits unlikely.....

I am sure someone will design a circuit using multple pic's that can do multi-color LED's with WiFi remote control and even have sound :)

So anyway, I think I accomplished what I set out to do. I just have to dial-in some fine points, install the activation switch and paint the body.

Here is another video of where it is now:

Thanks for following me along :)

P.S. I am going to start on a TRON costume next.....maybe.

Amazing work. My only suggestion is that you cut out those four little lines that are painted white so that they light up along with the outer ring. About how much did it cost to make this final product?
