Just a quick note from my experience of trying to hunt down a Kevin Flynn disk:

Go to the 'remote' Target's. I had a friend of mine FINALLY found one for me, at a Target in a small town outside of Atlanta. Beforehand, I noticed that Target's only carry 1 Kevin disk, and its doubtful that they'll get another shipment with more Kevin disks.

I just picked up a Rinzler and a Kevin at target for $13.99 each. Make sure you look behind all the discs, they were both hidden behind a wall of Sam discs

I might have missed it, but can someone post a "clear and full board pic" of the TRON:L Disc mod where you place the 8 Ground Wires, leading to the Battery Neg Pole, please. I want to be sure I am soldering the 8 wires onto the correct points.

So it's a Neg Line from Battery Neg point to the R3-R10 pins, in this case you made it less wiring by dropping a solder bar on the 6 pins along R3-R5/R8-10. Thank you Jak. Most kind for the details.

And done.. took all of about 4 mins from screw removal to replacement of said screws:

Ok, I am actually looking to make this ring green, the problem is though i want a bright green.... should I try a transparent yellow? or a transparent green? I have the sam disc, so its blue now.

I wanted to do an always-on light mod, but I also wanted to maintain the original functionality. I took each LED negative lead on the circuit board and connected it to a diode (N4001, but I don't think it matters). I then connected the end of all the diodes together and into a reed switch and then to ground.

The theory was that when the disc was in either on position, a simple magnet stuck to the underside of the disc would enable always-on mode. This works, but the lights are VERY dim and go down in brightness until they are basically off over just a matter of seconds.

Any ideas? It doesn't make much sense to my simple-minded understanding of electronics.

I bought some yellow Krylon stained-glass spraypaint at Michael's (an arts and crafts store), and painted one of my Sam Flynn discs with it and it turned out a nice lime green. Would that help?

Really nice work... I worked on Tron as an animator, and we not only animated the discs, but got to examine the actual props as well. I will try to post some pics of me with the Rinzler discs soon...

i dont have a lot of experience in the electrical field. it is something that would also help me in my job in the real world. but for the most part i want a little bit of personal knoweldge. im trying to find a good book that helps you understand electricity a bit better and can possibly point me in the direction of being able to mods like the ones you speak of. are there any electricity for dummies books that are particularly helpful??

hi all,

i haven't been on the forums for awhile now -real life stuff & getting better from a mild flu.

but, thought i'd mention that the arduino community has been tinkering with the tron disc mod idea as well. i was tipped to this from some over at youtube.

some are currently integrating a netduino minis inside the disc, making the light patterns fully customisable. also, some are using lithium batteries with charging base stations. awesome stuff.

the light patterns are awesome and without the need to design a custom circuitboard.

the ardiuno programmable code for the light patterns, parts, videos and instructions (work in progress can be found here):

Is there anywhere I could find the measurements of the inner circle on a Deluxe ID Disk? I want to make a holder that will fit one.
