Friend took a really cool pic of my casual tron.

Still need to shrink it to change my profile pic

So much information in all these pages!!! My mind . . . it burnnssss.

I ordered my first package of EL wire yesterday to fix up my Kevin Flynn disc for my Siren costume. Super, super excited!! However, I plan on working with EL tape for the actual Siren suit. I'm paranoid about getting the tape right. Anyway, I was wondering, not to sound gross, but how is everyone getting in and out of their suits to use the restroom? I plan on using my costume at SDCC next year and I'm concerned what I'm going to do when I need to pee. I'd hate to break any EL . . . :sick

Hi HQuin:)

I made my costume modular so I could disconnect any linked areas that I might need to over stretch at any point. Both my wife and myself were very glad we did that, my only mistake was making them on the back of the costume as we discovered to our eventual amusement that we had to disconnect each other as we couldn't do it ourselves. my advice is to hide them the side of the costume if you can.

That's an excellent idea. For my (much simpler) flashback Flynn jacket, I used some two-pin connectors to allow me to disconnect wiring in the future. Those connectors can be quite small, so they could easily be tucked away out of sight on a siren costume.

Thanks for your opinions!!! So its basically just extensions? The extra two-pin connectors?
For each strip of EL tape, I placed a male/female connector pair in the wires running from the power supply to the tape. That way, I could disconnect and take everything apart easily (especially as I attached my EL tape strips with Velcro). You could also make extensions as needed, too.

Heya everyone all of your costumes look great!! Im finally getting some time to post my halloween pics. im happy in how it turned out for being a super low budget. someday have to try to get it to light up.

I apologize if this has been answered before, but what kind of adhesive are you guys using to attatch the foam sheets to the fabric?

For the pants I made I used hot glue while I was wearing the compression tights with some sweat pants underneath to protect from hot glue burns haha. It was a quicky one night job. If I had the time I would have used a duct tape mannequin.

Hey Guys!

I`m kinda new to this thread, so if this has been answered before I`m sorry...

I need somebody who sells the hexagonal fabric for, well... not exactly a tron suit :p but it`s very similar so it works. I know Soulinertia used to sell it but he told me he`s put that on hold to pursue other proyects.. so if anyone else knows where to get it I`d REALLY appreciate it, thanks!

Hello everyone! I'm an absolute greenhorn cosplayer/costumer from Ottawa Ontario and I'm looking to go big. I'm using this tutorial to modify my Sam Deluxe Disc:
Tron Identity Disc Modification - YouTube

My disc is already here and the EL wire is on the way but I have a major problem. The $12 Inverter that he specifies (listed in the link below this sentance) adds a $40+ charge for travelling here to Canada.
CL-IPTC-3v-3-7FT

I was wondering if anyone could offer some links for alternative sites for tiny inverters with quick connectors for EL wire.

Cheers!

Pictures when my project is complete. =)

Hello everyone! I'm fairly new to these forums but I've been lurking for a long while now. I'm looking to complete stage one of my costume; modding a tron disc. I've already got the disc and have ordered some EL wire and magnets. I'm looking for some tiny inverters that have the el wire 'quick connect' attachments. Of course it has to be small enough to fit within the disc which has made searching a real pain. The one from coolights adds $40 in shipping to Canada and therefore isn't an option. Can anyone recommend another website?

Hi MrSpicewood

I went with that option for my first disc mod and it cost me a lot as well living in the UK. I'm modding a Kevin disc at the moment and I opted to use SMD LED strips this time round. If this is your first mod it can be a bit daunting, but a bit of thought and some perseverence will get you there. What I'm doing with the strips is this:

I've made holes for each of the SMD LEDs in the outside wall of the C ring (Either side will do, but try and avoid cutting the wall off entirely as this makes the disc very week around the C ring area) and hot glued them in place. I still went with the two N type batteries wired in parallel to give the SMD strips the ampage they need. If you want, I'll upload the simple wiring diagram I drew to use the original switch. I didn't want to cut any holes for an extra switch in the disc this time as the one that come with the disc is an on/off/on type and can be used to switch the C ring on indipendantly or C ring and blade together. The other thing I noticed about using the wire is that it got outshone by the LEDs so I ended up using resistors to town down the LEDs as I couldn't make the wire brighter. I have loads of pictures for the Kevin disc build I'm doing, so just let me know and I'll make a build thread if people think it would be useful.

With my suit that you found this picture of,
i used soft and flexible velcro from jo ann fabrics.
I glued one side to my foam, and the other to my compression
shirt and pants while I was wearing them. I used E6000 glue.
I opted not to used the adhesive velcro because I wasn't sure
how long the adhesive would hold on, especially when using
compression/spanex under suit.

hey everyone ive been trying to work out how to get the hex pattern printed on my undersuit. Is the some way i could use an iron on transfer??
