Tron Legacy Costume

How much do these little buggers weigh? I am not able to be throw screws and bolts through my jacket/mounting area, so this is a big deal.

I have his second generation ones, kinda wish I'd waited to get this new one, looks MUCH cleaner. It came with 4 holes that fit #10 screws very easily. The holder itself is VERY light, less than a pound, since its thin molded plastic (that in some parts is a bit fragile, I felt like I could break it if I wasn't careful).

I mounted mine using this method: use a piece of foam, EVA foam or whatever you like, and drill holes through it. Get yourself a #10 1" long bolt kit from Home Depot, only $.98, comes with the bolt and the hex nut to hold it in. Mount the disc holder to your foam securely, and then its just a matter of mounting/gluing the foam to your suit.

If you are putting magnets in there to help hold the disc tight (very necessary, that hook it nice but doesn't stop it from flopping around), its very easy to glue it in on the other sides. I'll post pics later when I actually take them, but this plus liquid nails holds my mount VERY firmly to my armor.

Thank you for your MOD demo! and I am definately ordering a couple white disc holder hubs from you. My friend and I will need them for our upcoming Siren costumes for SDCC :) PERFECT!

I will be eager to see how you tackle the siren suit disc mounting method, or the siren suit in general. My approach was...painful, but it worked. Look forward to pictures of your progress!

Has anyone tried using both reflective tape and the frosted transparency / shower curtain technique?

Results? Good? Waste of time?

I used reflective tape with el wire along the edges, so it had a glow in the dark as well as when someone uses flash photography.

Question for the people that have done disk mods, what are you using for switches? I wanted to use a rocker type switch but I'm not finding any that I think will fit in the disk.

Oh, and if you bought any of the earlier model disk holders, send us an email if you purchase a new one, we are giving a $10 credit towards the new ones for each of the old ones you bought (it will be credited back after payment is received).

We will also have another version out in a few weeks that will have a semi circle ring cut out of the center so it matches the movie more. We are always trying to make our products better, I hope no one is disappointed in us by getting the first gen holders.

If you can find them small enough, they are out there, SPST or DPDT Slide Switches are fine. Rockers will work fine as well, just need them small enough.

Are you taking pre-orders for that one? Also, I am gearing up for my local con in mid May. Do you think you wil have them by then?

Has anyone had any success mounting any of these holders to a costume using magnets? I was hoping to ring 6 or so around it and use those to hold it to my jacket. Should be light enough, eh. Thoughts?

Don't get me wrong, both ones I have from before work great and were easy to use. Its just that new one looks really slick and cool :D

So we are talking to our laser cut guy. Here are some designs for the inner ring cut out. Which one do you guys like the best?

My Vote: Prop #1 w/ C Ring Bevel & Hook with Key Piece Below. I think it feels a bit more organic and TRON:Legacy like. The other (Prop #2) would look a tad simple and minimalist with a disk sitting around it.

I personally like the C ring with bevel, but as you can see from the image below, it is not screen accurate. Even though the tab is not accurate as well, it serves a function. This will be the last version of the disk holder, so I want to make sure I do what people want the most. And if we all break canon, then does it even matter? :lol

Proposal 1 is my vote! May not be perfectly accurate, but I think it is the best stylistically.
:)

I'll vote for prop 2 as well, it's a small touch but I think adds a little flare to something that otherwise simplistic

I have to say Prop 2 as well. Other wise, when you have your disc on you have 2 C rings. Its too similar.

Plus, if you look at it, Prop 1 is basically the "power on" symbol because the hook makes the little line in the C ring. If there were no hook, I would vote for 1. But since we all agree we need the hook, my vote goes for 2.
