Tron Legacy Costume

WOW! I am liking this very much. Now, I am not too familiar with paper craft props.

Are these helmets used for a base to work with in which I would style the helmet to get it to fit me best and add product to it such as paper clay or wonderflex to harden the helmet to then sand it down and paint it?

If so, I am so getting the Quorra one. I have never seen this website before. I love all you guys! ;) so helpful!

Finally went thru 500 photos from my friend Kevin that took photos of all of us at our meet up. These are the best of many repeat shots he took. If there are repeat poses of the same person it's only because the shot looked too good not to post :p so excited for you all to check these out, many good ones.

ENJOY!!! :D and if you are a member on FLICKR, please feel free to add more tags to the photos and tag the person in the photos if you like.

Shocking, a few blacklight pics actually came out ok during this event (minimal blur and lens-splatter) :eek

In a nutshell, you print the model on heavy weight cardstock (110 lb) assemble it using superglue, then reenforce it using fiberglass resin and bondo.

Sand, detail, paint.

Some have taken a finished model and pulled moulds from that to make more traditional castings (Halo/Star Wars style helmets for example).

It might be a good base to use to pull vaccuform bucks from.

God Bless Annisse happy to hear you and your friend are ok.
pictures are amazing...:):thumbsup

Thanks for the great pics!
Instead of a bonus, I got a gift card to Best Buy for Christmas.
Instead of a LCD TV, I'm looking at sewing machines......

On another note when the SDCC registration starts working again, which day are we planning the the compiling of programs? I only plan to go 1 day and taking my 4 year old.
And yes, I'm doing a tronitized wolverine for him.

I just posted this over in the ELastolite thread, but thought it worth re-posting here.

This seems too crazy to be true, but I think I've found a solution that if I'm reading it correctly would mean we could screen print our own flexible EL material in any pattern.

This company Gwent Electronic Materials Ltd. produces EL inks for screen printing, but they also produce conductive and insulating inks also for screen printing. They have sample kits available.

Their brochure http://www.gwent.org/Data/GemData/D...cent Display/Electroluminescent Brouchure.pdf has a fair amount of detail as does their kit instructions http://www.gwent.org/Data/GemData/D...minescent Display/Instructions for EL Kit.pdf

I know I will be there all week, but, I gotta leave room for Marvel Super villain costume as well as SAAB costume. Fridays and saturdays are usually the costume group get togethers.

Annisse, I hope it isn't out of line to say I desperately want to see some studio photos of this costume with good, dramatic lighting. Please tell me you know someone who could do a shoot.

Yes, I have a couple shoots lined up. One on location and one with a green screen background controlled lighting to do a little PS fun with my pics.

I want exact poses as Olivia as she appears in the promo shots. Not sure when I am setting this up though, my costume already needs repairs with the lighting.

I see. I have never worked with fiberglass resin before. Where do you get it from and how is it used? I have used bondo but instead I may use paper clay. It is almost the same and so easy to work with.

i restore classic muscle cars, and am at school learning this sort of stuff for auto body. and am very familiar with bondo, welding, fiberglass repair, plastic welding, paint etc.

so if it is similar, which it sounds like it is, I could probably help ya out.

Also, if you have a little extra to spend try quantum instead of other fillers. less pin holes, easier to sand, and you can apply over paint.

ANNISSE! I'm SO glad to hear you and your boyfriend are ok! I was wondering what happened to you, and why you hadn't posted yet. Must've been really scary, but like I said, glad you are safe and sound.

Vicious, In response to your earlier post about Castor's ourfit, I'd say for the vest portion, take a look at another thread floating around on the RPF about "Fallout New Vegas Ranger Armor". The OP goes into detail about how he got some cheap foam mats from Harbor Freight, and after molding them with a band saw and belt sander, he was able to hot glue them together and heat gun them into some pretty wicked armor. Plus, they're already a good gray color just like Castor's chestplate. Probably what'd be best beyond that is looking for a tails tuxedo pattern (or an old one you can take apart to make a rough pattern yourself) and going from there. As for the Cane, I'd say an LED flashlight for the handle and clear acryllic compound would do nicely. Add your own Ziggy Stardust flare, and you're solid!

Hopefully, once I get back from X-mas vacation, I'll have more pics of my final costume. There were more embellishments added to it since my posting last Tuesday night, and I'd love people to see them.

This is what i get, I guess, for going on vacation and missing staff meetings... :lol

Anyway, happy holidays all!
