Tron Legacy Costume

Also, that EL Tape is the same stuff that Astrael used in his project (pic below for reference) which IMO looks damn good. Keep it classy:

I have to agree, that does look right. I've been looking at reproducing Kevin Flynn's hoodie/robe and the amount of EL that I'd need per hoodie is approximately 15' - which runs upwards of $200+. It's a little more than I have on hand.. unless I can find decent product for decent price.

The other challenge I have been facing is the prospect of travelling with the robe. The EL tape doesn't fold, so I was thinking sticky back velcro so I could detach it and roll it up to pack?

That would look very slick! The Funhouse stuff is 22.00 per 1 meter strip if you buy 4+ strips. So, that'd be 110.00 altogether for 5 strips of 1 meter tape (should be close to 15 feet). See their spec page on the tape for details: http://shopping.netsuite.com/s.nl/c.ACCT88394/it.A/id.976/.f?sc=2&category=183

Not cheap, but better than 200. I would like to hear some feedback on Cool Neon (Funhouse) EL Tape and if it looks as good as the pics show.

That's my plan for the vest/fedora/shoes mod I want to make. I've heard a few people on this thread say it works very well, and you can easily remove the EL Tape to wash the clothes.

I'm gonna go ahead and go with Funhouse. We'll see if it works out, though from what I've seen it looks promising.

Hey all, I'm working on a Clu costume for Halloween--like who-knows-how-many-others that are reading. Initially I wasn't going to post, but it looks like the thread is still pretty active, so I thought, 'why not'.

Anyway, I'm working with Glowhut tape and was wondering about making cuts in the tape, and attaching a new connection. Any help is appreciated. Can't thank vasarian and annise enough for the diagrams/specifics of their costumes. Will definitely come in handy.

Looks like Rinzler and APV are also working on a Clu costume. hopefully we can put our heads together to come up with a great finished look.

Here's my Clu helmet thus far, i started in August. and now, nearly two month's later...

I hope i can dedicate as much time to the suit as i have been to the unfinished helmet, as Halloween is creeping closer quickly. Always welcome any suggestions, tips, questions, etcetera. Thanks all.

Sweet helmet! You can cut the tape but I think you can solder connections to it. As for the glow hut the tape has kind of a plasticky color sheet thing over it which kind of takes away from the brightness

To follow up on what moviebuff said:

The actors were digitally scanned so that the armor would be form-hugging. When I began my research, these were some of the first youtube clips I scanned:

TRON: LEGACY - Innovative Design - YouTube
Tron: Legacy Costume Designer Talks Light-Up Fabrics, Style, and the Future of Fashion - YouTube
TRON: LEGACY - Comic-Con Interview with Olivia Wilde "The Suits" - YouTube

o i c! Thanks a lot! I think I'm doing '80s Flynn now; I'll let you all know how it goes!

Yeah I have a pep'd CLU helmet done (not hardened yet), but until I finish my Anon helmet not starting it properly since this is my first go at making this stuff and learning a lot each time I go at it, looking forward to seeing CLU outfits though!

Nice job so far. There's some pictures of my helmet a few pages back. It's not 100% accurate since I made it before the blu-ray/pep file came out, but it'll do for Halloween and the local con coming up till I can make a more accurate one. I didn't like the way I did the lighting on it, so I've since carved out the shape so I can make it more recessed. I'll post pictures once I have it finished.

Holy crap! That's amazingly better than my sculpt. I was happy with mine before, and am at the stage to get my plastics cut and formed over it, so I think I'm just going to cover up some of my issues and try to get them a bit more precise. The only issue I have with yours is the hole at the bottom of the chin/side... Other than that it's perfect! I'm a bit ashamed of mine now... :-/ I'm having issues with the light strip shape and forming the bottom around where my head fits in... It's difficult to sculpt the bottom of it...

I don't need it done for Halloween though anyway, I'm going as Russel Brand. And by going I mean dressing up to go out with friends, I'm a bit old to go trick-or-treating. So I have the time to make mine better.

Anyway, great job! It's really one of the best I've seen... Actually, it is the best. I love this forum.

WOW WOW WOW! so much work time and love I can see has gone into your Clu helmet! AMAZING! be proud! :thumbsup :)

Quick question regarding that CLU helmet, the 2 depressed areas on each side of the chin, I haven't seen them on any images of movie helmet, where did they come from for the model?

Hi everybody! how's it going!?!

I wanted to share my friend Vance Cardenas's photos. He's a non RPF member but might become one, I invited him to check out this thread. These are from his photoshoot at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Downtown, LA.

These came out so AWESOME! :D and making me really excited to get some shots in my Quorra and Siren Gem suits now, I have been planning on it.

This location is excellent! The architecture of this building with its metal frame has a futuristic look and makes it perfect for a Tron shoot!

Now, imagine with a light up costume hitting the metal at night! :thumbsup

so excited to shoot there now! YAY! :cool
