Tron Legacy Costume

Hey, does anyone have any tips for attaching the reflective tape to neoprene? I tried rubber cement but the neoprene stretches about twice the size when worn.

I use this Compound Adhesive and sealant based on Polyurethane which cures by atmospheric moisture and is then painted over. mostly car work but other projects trust me its perfect for this

• Strong adhesion
• Permanently elastic
• vibration
• paintable
• Silicone free
• Non-corrosive
• weather and UV resistant
• resistant to dilute acids and alkalis
• odor
its in black I use it for everything its really strong most hardware stores have it fixed cars, speakers clothes shoes boots its great I get this one here in germany its like 16$ but its worth it this one is Petec K&D Karosserie Klebe

Be perfect for putting on these strips :)

Great costume Wolf.

I've came across these armor jackets and i was wondering if there would be a way to paint parts of it for example the shoulder armor so it looks more like rubber or more of a solid material ?

On the Tron costumes they have the hard armor and then they have the softer material that has the hex patterns,i would like to make it look like that if it's possible.

My original idea is to buy a wetsuit and some how build the armor onto it but finding these jackets it could be a more simple way.

You could try Plastidip spray paint. At the very least, it will allow you to paint over those colored sections without it peeling off. Home depot ONLY has the black version, they refuse to carry other colors because they are cheap. They offered to sell me white, but only if I bought a whole case of them for $56.

Long time builder first time poster. You all have inspired me, i've decided to move ahead with my Tron project. I intend to make one of the concept program designs from the art of Tron book. Lots of good info on this thread and great projects!

Welcome to the chaos AmmersVI. Be sure to take lots of WIP pics so we can all learn new or enhanced methods, as well as come up with inspired ideas from your creativity.

First pic from party! (Since then I made the disc green, the glass colors works like a charm)

what do you think?

Looks wonderful Wolf. Way too cute. :p Let's see the green as soon as you have some pics ready.

Thank you colonelmasako,i was thinking about using that and thank you for letting me know where to purchase it. Lol.

First designs...gloves :D

I've attached pictures of my glove design 2 versions. I found a really cool pair of gloves that i think will do very nicely. I've modified the picture for 2 possible designs.I'm really excited just designing it....can't wait to get started.

Attached Pics: Original,Version 1 and Version 2.

I do have a few ideas on how to attach the wire but it may change when i actually get them and also if i can get the el wire in a small size or if i can cut it.

Really hope i'll be able to pull it of. *fingerscrossed*

That looks awesome, WolfMistress! Excellent work! You did a great job! I too am looking forward to seeing pics of your new and improved disc! LOL! :)

Hey Squeek,

Nice designs! I like Version 2, mainly because it more closely resembles Rinzler's gloves. Remember if you attach the EL wire over flexing joints, leave enough play in the wire so it can move back and forth. I've heard EL wire doesn't take too kindly to repeated bends and points of stress.

Thanks a lot guys! Today there's a big street party so I'll post some more pics tomorrow! :)

I recommend working with Lighttape, it's expensive but easy to work with, shines better than anything else and is more safe than the alternatives (after all, we're wearing it, it should be the greatest concern). Plus, it's the original material from the movie and we had lots of help from the manufacturer. Thing is, they don't usually sell it in small amounts, but a smile and a description of this cool project can do wonders :)

And again, thank you for all the information, I've researched this forum for a month and got a lot of ideas which helped me and my friends to decide how to do it (it's the first costume we make from scratch!)

Thank you HooDooMan1. Yeah i think ver.2 looks better and will probably be the one i'll be going for. Thanks for letting me know about the wire i didn't rally think about that. I was thinking of cutting a hole in the rubber just big enough for the wire to go through so i can feed it through without taking of the rubber parts of the glove.

I will probably have to see how thick the rubber and the wire is until i'm able to purchase them. As i said in my previous post, things may change when i come to making it.I will have to wait and see. :)

Thanks again

Thank you for sharing the pictures Rook and greyfox. Do you know where to find more pictures showing all angles of the suit ? Could defently help.

Those are the best images I've seen, short of finding screen caps from the film.
It would be nice if we could somehow get high res captures of the 3D model, like were posted for the Quorra model. Lots of details in those photos.

I haven't seen any good behind the scenes shots of the physical Rinzler costume anywhere. :(

You don't happen to have any high res images like this of Tron or Anon do you?

Thanks!

No, these are what could I find in Hi-Res.

@metalgreyfox: where did you find this Tron Render?

EDIT: nevermind, I used my google-fu… Will post em here later, when uploaded to my Imageshack account

I had some of those later ones, but not the earlier others, thanks!

Your image "hires02" and 03 are coming up dead.

Big thanks!

Russ

Hmmm, have you reloaded? Otherwise I can send them you via email…

That's so awesome! Thanks so much for posting those pics. :D:thumbsup

YenChih Lin THANKS MAN! Your post with all the suit pics is fantastic! You have just helped dozens of people with their design and fabrication efforts. :cool:thumbsup

No problem, no problem - from one Tron fan to another: "Game on!" :) ;)
