Good point, and also not a lot will be needed. I was thinking more for the idea of keeping it matching whatever light method is used on the suit. If you aren't building a suit, going for white, or trying to get as bright as possible, go with an LED strip. I can't remember where I heard it but the EL wire doesn't emit very well from inside the disc and LEDs are much brighter than even the High bright EL Wire.
My concern of this is WHERE a 12volt Battery source FITS in such a small space of the disc with the 'On/Off' function to work with? That seems to be like MAJOR WIRING work there(or am I missing 'Electrical-Geek Class 101' here)? :confused
I have a party I'm going to in about a month and I'm after pointers. I'm wanting to modify existing black clothes for this project (I'm going as a program, not as one of the heroes) and so I have a fake leather jacket, a hoodie, a t-shirt and some jeans, all black. I'm planning on ordering some of that EL-Wire cause I don't want the glowing sections to be all that thick but I just want to know if there is any way that I can embed the wire in the jacket, etc so that it doesn't stand out and look so ugly when its not dark?
This is the sort of thing (roughly) that I'm aiming for: http://i585.photobucket.com/albums/...HalfFacedMan_PrisonerBlackIso_081203_SJ10.jpg
Sorry for being a complete noob, I've always wanted to try this sort of thing but have never got round to it before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.![]()
Since I started on my costume some time back, I also needed a Disc for that purpose as well, so I did a Disc "proplet" that I could take to conventions and use during Halloween as well.
Here is a quick little video of the Disc I put together:
(I am using white LED strips)
YouTube - Tron Legacy Identity Disc 2 - completed.
When I start on my costume, I'll be using mostly EL tape. I hope it turns out as well as others I have seen in this thread.

Have I mentioned that I hate you PM? (j/k) :cry Such great electronics skills.. this whole thread has simply forced me to seriously learn more about LED and wiring setups.

Thanks, I'll look into it.If I were you I would velcro some el tape on and form the shapes on it using electrical tape
Well folks, looks like we'll all get the chance to wear our costumes to a Tron premier (a second time for some of you, hehe)!

I have been avoiding this thread like the plague, because I knew it would suck me in like a black hole. After reading through 92 pages, my desire to build Rinzler has grown from "that would be cool" to "I want to get on this".
Other than the Icaro 2000 glider helmet has anyone found anything that works?
Man I love hoe many people are building tron costumes this year. Anyone going to dragon con with one?
I will be at Dragoncon with my tron crew.
we will also be hosting a Tron themed dance party at midsouthcon this year. (at least that is the tentative plan).
