Top Shot on History Channel

I know we have some shooters on the boards here. Any of you watching this show? It's two weeks in, and plays very much as "survivor" with guns. As in, the way the show is structured, not that the competitors are sleeping on dirt and running around an island with guns on them. ;)

Last week was long range shooting with a variety of older weapons, this week it was pistol shooting with the Beretta 92F.

I enjoy competitive shooting quite a bit so I'm getting a kick out of the show and seeing what kind of challenges they are cooking up for these guys. And it's always nice to see a show promote the safe and responsible use of weapons. :thumbsup

Go blue! Yeah, my 15 year old daughter and I have been watching it together. She has just shown interests in my guns in the last month or so even though I was collecting firearms since a teenager. I guess I'll have to get her to a shooting range and see if she's still interested after holding a pistol when it goes bang.:lol

As for the show, I'm in to it even though I abhor survivor style reality shows. I'm enjoying seeing different style shooters being put out of their element and seeing who step up and who doesn't.

Ditto.

Next week they all look to struggle with the long bow. I can attest man, I'm h*ll on wheels when it comes to a good compound bow, but long bow is something I just never took to at all.

Good luck with your daughter. Hope she does well on the range!

Thanks, my wife and I used to shoot at the range before we had kids but the last time we were at a range my wife was pregnant with our daughter and she kicked like hell every time my wife fired.:lol Since then life has happened and we haven't been able to go to a range even though I can lay in bed at night and hear training at the local PD's out door range. We have 44 acres with a perfect location to set up a small range but we're located within city limits so that's against the law. Maybe one day soon I'll get to do more than polish and whisper sweet nothings to my firearms.:lol

I couldn't stand the guy who was making excuse after excuse... "The grip angle was off, the sights were worn"....

Yes, the grip angle on a Glock is different than a Beretta but everyone else was shooting with the same gun and doing fine.

Did you see Kelly last week with the M700? That was impressive shooting. 600 yard shot with a 15mph wind and he hit it in 2.

Kelly has really impressed me not just with the 600 yard shot (of course he's an Olympic competitor with the rifle) but tonight with the Beretta 92F since he is not a hand gun person.

Last night's ep was OK. They seemed to focus more on the drama than the competitions. But I guess there is plenty to go around. Tempers and hissy fits a plenty.

I had a feeling the long bow challenge might be a little boring, and that a group of firearms shooters might just blow it off. The crossbow challenge was much more interesting.

I like it except for the host. The fake quasi western accent is really anoying and he needs to shave. Just let the guy be normal please.

I still want to know what this show has to do with History, or any of their other reality shows for that matter.

Longbow?
Pah - Easy as pie... Then again, I'm English :lol

Beretta 92F?
That is considered an OLD gun??!! Damn, I'm old!!

Does anyone know if this is/will be shown in the UK? It sounds fun!

Eh, I like this more than gangland, pawn stars, american pickers and ice road truckers and american loggers... yes I know those should be capitalized. No, I will not capitalize them. They don't deserve it. :sleep

I'll admit, they went on quite the WW2, Hitler, Nazi binge but, why on earth did they have to shift to so many "reality" shows? Hell, they're still making the same mistake. They just show the same show over and over again all day long. Diversify that ****!

I watch History International now. At least they show all stuff History used to show that was worth watching.

Anyway, for some reason this show is tolerable to me. Maybe the poor red team will win something next week.

Reality TV is dirt cheap to produce. Plus, reality TV stars usually self-destruct before you have to start paying them real money. Funny thing is, you'd THINK that history TV is cheap to produce as well. Most of the time all you need is a presenter/narrator, some academics willing to be on video, and some stock footage or SCA members to put the whole show together.

The finale aired last night, and I have to admit I did not see that one coming. Looked like they had a good time! Anybody else watch it?

I was hoping that the contests in the finale would be with some new guns, but they made it interesting none the less.

I'm seriously considering applying for the second season.
