I lucked into mine. I had seen the Titan Find kit years ago (after the first run, sadly) and periodically checked to see if the guy would do another run. One day I checked and the run was done - I had missed it again!. Fortunately, the guy had enough spare sections for one more kit, which I got. I see them on ebay now and again for ridiculous prices.
The guy also did a great version of the Scorpio, the Pursuit ship and the Chase ships from "Redemption" - but those are even harder to find and more expensive. I'd love a set of those Chase Ships for a diorama "chasing" the Liberator.
There are a few Shapeways printable versions of versions of the Pursuit ship at about a inch or two long - which is about to scale with this Liberator kit. I've considered getting a couple as a diorama. Their dark red ochre color would be a good contrast.
LOL I just realized the pursuit ships are the same color as the Red Dwarf - that faded maroon color. BBC probably had a gallon of red paint left over and used it to save a few bucks.
Man this brings back memories. When i was really little pbs would have this on and since i was extremely sickly as a kid i was often up with one issue or another so i go to watch it at the stunningly late time of 11pm lol. They never bothered to show the entire series i don't think. I wouldn't be surprised if the BBC did have some paint left to use on the Dwarf, they seemed to recycle as much as possible.
I’ve also added more grey shades to the Engine pod and masked off a few panels
I'm pretty much ready to start decaling. The water slide decal set is nice, but the numerous stripes can be a problem. I am particularly worried about the odd curved shapes of the engine dome and the stripes that encircle it. I'm going to scan the decal sheet to be able to print more if needed.
Time to finish this blasted engine. The stripe on the engine globe are the most dauntting thing about the model. Dozens of thin white stripes in concentric circles on a spherical globe is a nightmare.
So I did what the original model makers did - bought some auto detailing stripes and started on it.
The stripes I bought are 2 parallel strips on one tape so it went much quicker than I'd hoped.
I'm quite pleased. Next step is to touch up the engine dome (quite a few nicks in the paint from xacto-ing the stripes to fit) then finish detailing the hull. The hull still needs more light grey panels.
As for a stand, I'm think I'm going to go with a some sort of cradle
Actually, I am pretty much finished minus the decals. I've been busy at work and a few other projects. However, I'm still stumped as to a stand. I'm thinking of a felt lined cradle. Just have t gather some parts and ideas when I have some time.
BTW the guy that does Titan find emailed me says he was thinking of re-popping the Pursuit ship. Probably about $135 or so, but in the considering stage. PM if interested, I'll see if he needs more people.
You did a brilliant job with this. Love seeing how it turned out. Well done!
BTW, I ended up doing a deal with Masterpiece Models to produce the back catalog of the Titan Find kits. For all sorts of reasons, I was not able to do them anymore. So they are all still available.
