T'is the season! Luke's Holiday Special lightsaber!

Awesome...

Though my initial thoughts were to keep my original together, and just make a MORE accurate one...

But how many holiday lightsabers does one need? (some would argue ZERO. ZERO ARE NEEDED)

I just thought about cutting that shroud again... nah... I'll just upgrade the one I have now.

LOL yes, you are correct. ZERO are needed. I have found myself stopping a few times already to think. Why the hell am I doing this!? LOL

Ok I got the actual chrome vinyl in today that I’ll be using for the kits. This stuff is awesome. Usually anything metallic is a foil so it has very little stretch. This stuff however is actually chrome vinyl. I don’t know how they do it but it’s got plenty of stretch and doesn’t tear like foil. Yet has a great mirror finish just like Mylar tape. Me thinks you guys will love it. It’s a bit more expensive but I’m glad I went with the upgraded material. Sticks really well also.

Hey, what did you use for the flip switch/button at the center? Earlier today the optical illusion finally flipped for me and I see the 4 screws in corners and not the 2 sunken screws now

LOL I know exactly what you mean!
I realize it's not accurate but we only have that one picture. I used the knurled aluminum cylinder from an old Exacto knife. I just used a dremel to cut it down to fit. I tried finding bulk knurled bushings for cheap that would fit that I could include in the kits but I couldn't find what I needed and didn't want to include a part that's possibly not accurate.

Does anybody know if this was built on a graflex or graflite?i bought a graflex but now I’m thinking maybe o should have bought a graflite. Looking at the photos I don’t see either writing on the flash,is it possible the graflex logo is under the grips?maybe it’s there but with the black paint we can not see it?any thoughts?

...wha...

It's a Graflite, which is made by Graflex the company, not to be confused by Graflex the titular flash, also made Graflex, which was replaced by the Graflite.

The early 2773’s are stamped with graflex, the later 2773’s are stamped with graflite

The one trent has is a graflex stamp

I think the biggest tell is the black button piece up top, and the multiple rectangular sockets around the top. Absolutely a Graflite, and its why they had to mock up those emitter pieces, because a graflite has no beveled top.

I think he means which version of the newer 2773 model. One version says Graflite at the top of the flash near the ports, and the other says Graflex around the middle where the grips and control box are. I would guess this to be the correct version as I couldn't see the word "graflite" on any of the reference photos.

Graflex

DAMN...all flashes I have are the incorrect Graflites :(

Anyone with a spare "GRAFLEX" marked flash?

My brain:
Don’t buy one
Don’t buy one
Don’t buy one
Don’t buy one

Me:
Looks like I need to make room for a new hilt

I got the wrong one but meh I don’t think there is that much difference.

I honestly don't think it matters all that much. I had just heard it was the graflex version and not the graflite version so I'm just repeating what I was told. But it looks to me that If you can get the lettering off by using alcohol or paint remover, you'll be fine. The grips would cover up the "graflex" on the real prop anyway so there would be no noticeable difference. In fact, now that I look at the reference pics more closely it appears to me that ALL text was removed from the prop. the port labels, the "DO NOT USE WITH 110 V" around the emitter, etc. so it very well could be one or the other. I'm happy to retract my statement if someone with more knowledge knows of any other discerning details between the two besides the "graflex" vs the "graflite" text.
