T'is the season! Luke's Holiday Special lightsaber!

The toothless mask of Itchy is pleased...

I always thought that Lumpy looked like that kid from “Eight is Enough”

But, seriously, who’s gonna be the first to do an FX install for this saber? Why isn’t there a HOLIDAY SPECIAL-themed soundfont? Where is the chassis designed to fit a Graflite? C’mon, people!

Oh god, I can only imagine how horrible it would have looked/sounded had Luke used it in the HS.

The HOLIDAY SPECIAL boot sounds alone would be amazing. Someone needs to get on making this soundfont. I want to see at least one install of this saber, dagnabbit. April Fools’ Day is coming!

Meanwhile, I’m joining the party. Just received a Graflite via eBay (from a camera parts seller less than 40 miles from me, so it was only two days’ shipping). It’s the correct “Graflite” model, too! The metal needs some cleaning up, but it’s in good shape. Time to order Trent’s control box and some grips.

Just need to figure out what to do for the bottom endcap and the emitter. I could fashion my own, but I’ll have to see if there are any alternatives out there.

One thing I've been meaning to ask you guys for opinions on, is where are we cutting the bottom of the Graflite? Is it right where the threading ends or are we going a bit higher that that?

I screwed up and put mine on the lathe to clean up... it looks like hell. I actually bought another one because I ruined the finish on mine

I would just stick with degreasing it, I don’t plan on trying to physically clean up this second one

You can see the grain i put into it in my unboxing video

I’ll stick with my dirty version lol

Yeah, I don’t plan on going hardcore to clean it up. Degreasing it alone should take care of a lot of the surface issues. Then maybe some treatments with superfine steel wool. We’ll see how it goes.

I'm so proud of this little thread that could.

Soon my love of "the ugly sabers of Star Wars" will be the norm.

I need to repost the bottom of my holiday saber... I went for idealized... of course as soon as I post - and image of the actual back-end will be revealed...

Looks like the bottom is black in color, to me...

Yeah I know of that one, it's odd how they did it though as they must have sawed down the extruding black part...

I just made an all new end cap... which was kinda dumb in retrospect, but I wanted it closer to a graflex back end.
