Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Costumes

In person it looks a bit like a stuffed animal.
However it may work well for making your head appear enlarged since it is rather cartoonish.
I've seen a hair version wig, with a crown, online somewhere-
I'll search a bit and post if I find an image again.

I have not seen this wig in person, so I can't comment on the quality of the hair or anything-but it's another option for you :)

I'm sure it's the same costume, but the color timing, as we know, on this movie was quite extreme. We got some heaving darkening and desaturation going on all over the place.

I'm with Nickytea,
Its the screen used battle gear..but the movie did
darken up the scenes.quite abit.
luckily i took about 5 different shaded of blue swatches
to the el capitan and was able to color match in person.
mine is about 1 shade off.
(lighter) but has the perfect hue.
Hey Padawan.. I too am using the same claymore to tear apart
and "HATTER-IZE" it
should have it done by this weekend.

oh sweet ^^
youll have to give me some pointers
there are a few things i haven't yet figured out.

i know what im doing about the length and the diamond thing though atleast ^^
so im not totally useless XP

I like the colors on screen of the battle hatter outfit compared to the costume on display, so that's what I'm going for, hence why my coat is a darker blue than most. Plus it seems like there were many inconsistencies with the original brown coat display vs the one seen on screen (ie. the vest), so I wonder if there are similar issues with the battle display. Anyone noticed anything? Anyways, I'm curious as to which version is everyone else on here is trying to match?

I think there are a lot of inconsistencies, as you mentioned, as well as the lighting and special effects in the movie itself as others have mentioned. I guess just do what ever one YOU like best.

Like how I unsuccessfully tried to explain before, the props/costumes used in the movie, usually are not the exact ones seen on display. For example, the hat on display at comic con and el capitan is different than the one in the dvd features. the one at comic con had only 3 hat pins on the left side and the gem/button on the peacock pin is much larger than the one on the dvd pic. I personally like the comic con one better, so that's what I make mine based off of.

yeah, i based some of the stitching on my hat off the SDCC hat
cause that was the best reference at the time ( i want to make a new one with more SA stitching though)
and my Peacock pin was a gift from Chad, and he basses his off the SDCC one as well
(again best reference at the time)
though i do what to try my hand at making a SA one, just for fun and if i like it i may replace it
doesn't mean im selling Chads, no one gets that, he will just live on another hat, so there
i like it way to much

Speaking of which did anyone else notice that when Um (8 foot Alice) picked up MH hat in the gardens that the hat pins and the peacock turbin were backwards? I thought the hat was facing me but the scarf knot was facing the audience. Hmmm!

Panda and i have a thory
if you look the hat is always the same her Johnny is wearing it
the moment he takes it off it changes
cause its sad
it likes topping his head what when hes not around to wear it things move around and get bored and depressed

Oh my gosh! I LOVE that wig!!! I'm totally getting it! *o* Thank you so much for posting!!! Great price too! ... however I think I might wait til the Halloween season seeing as that photo of it is just photoshopped...its the same picture as the costume model with her blonde hair. I mainly like the size of it but who knows how much bigger they made it digitally...I hope it looks that big! I really want it!

I just compared the two and that my friend is a legitamit(sp?) wig. You can tell by the widows' peak in the front, and its not photoshopped to be larger or anything.

Ramiel! N-I-C-E! You are an Adobe G-O-D! Have you been able to establish any sort of repeating pattern? I know the paisley shaped design is often flipped over and mirrored.

I'm tracking down an old Navy buddy of mine that worked in a metal shop. They had laser cutters for varying thickness of aluminum. If I can hunt him down I may be able to get some access to a laser cutter BUT I need to see if that would work on leather. They used to manufacture boat parts for railings, deck mounts, etc. but also could laser cut thicknesses down to about 1/8-1/16 of an inch.

I'll see if he is still around.

This is marvelous! :love

Excellent work Ramiel :thumbsup

Ramiel! Very good job man!! I'm with CJS, you have a repeating pattern? I'd love to see a large version of it...and is it downloadable? :love
First of all, thank you all!
It was quite a challenge to find the repeating patern behind the golden thread, but yes, there is a very clear pattern in the hat, it is just a flower (rose presumably), with a swirly design on the bottom, mirrored and angled, then repeated to make this design:)

On a 3D hat I did it looks like this, but it isn't mapped correctly (yet):

Ramiel: AMAAAAAZIIIIINNNNNGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *O*

Chad, I hope you're right! I WANT WANT WANT IT!!! I don't have the patience to curl my wig over again ( I had to take it down cause it all fell out of place :( ) I'm going to lurk that page every day 'til it says 'in stock'...even though I don't think I'm going to wear my RQ again...hrm.

Ramiel, that is nice! :D :D :D

Hey, anyone know where to buy a black lace hat like HT used to have? I never could find one, and I beleive I'm in need of one. :love I might do a black "evil Scottish" hat. :lol Seriously though, that black is gonna be my evil hat. :)

You know what Ramiel! It is frakking amazing how things just jump out at you when you focus on the the positive not negative (and I mean like in photography positive and negative films). Here I was spending most of my time focusing on the pattern for the holes that I didn't really take a step back and look at the parts of the leather that were not the holes. The pattern does jump out at you when you focus really hard on it.

I went back and looked at some of the other promo shots, movie stills, and such and you can definitely see a flower like pattern in the leather. AMAZING stuff! Sometimes you have to see the flowers through the holes!!!!

Great rendering of the hat by the way! Even down to the hat pins!!!

I'm not having much luck tracking down my former Navy buddy. Need to find another source of laser etching devices!!!

*Pokes a toe into this thread*

Hi everyone!

Found my way on here via a link to a completely different thread & eventually ended up on this one. I'd been contemplating doing Mirana for DragonCon this year but have just not been able to get myself motivated to do so until I saw Soulinertia's White Queen crown. Something shiny to wear on my head motivates me. :lol (Psst, I pinged you on ebay Soulinertia!)

So! I've noticed a lot of Hatter replica talk on this thread but not much at all on Mirana. I've seen all the good close up pics on Costumersguide so I have a good idea of what I need to do but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where to get components? Screen accurate fabrics, lace & trims? Any help would be appreciated. :love

Also, are there any plans for meeting up at DragonCon for maybe a photoshoot? Not sure when I'd wear this but my friend who is going to do an Alice costume thinks Sunday day would work best right now.

Thanks and I look forward to getting to know you all!

And Illinois has a! We have! Uhhh! We've got....We had....I've been.....CORN. We've got frakkin' corn. And you can't take that away. Unless a big old tornado comes through. Or there's not enough wanter. Or the bugs eat it. Or it dies. So. You can take it away sometimes. But evryother time you can't. Corn. It's what we got baby!

Hu? Oh yeah. Welcome.

:lol :p ;)

hahah Jodo, your silly

and Crimson, i think your gonna find its a loss cause. my Girlfriend Panda thinks all us Hatters are crazy cause we share information and trade things with each-other
while all the Miranas (shes doing it too) dont say a thing about there costumes. so your probably not gonna get much help from them
