Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Costumes

As mentioned before here is a scan of the MH hat. See the diagonal seam and the jewel/gemstone on the one hat pin?

Another thing. Do you suppose that the seam in the back of the hat is diagonal because the shaft portion of the hat was originally cut as a straight rectangle and then, when it was stretched around the hat block, became diagonal because the top of the hat is wider than the bottom? (If that makes any sense).

By any chance does ANYONE know where to get that lace that runs down the side of his pants???? It's driving me NUTS!!!

and did anyone notice that on the vest, in the checkered squares, there is yet ANOTHER layer of material between the black and the checkers??! I am also convinced that the vest is easier than cutting out square by square and sewing them individually together. It's just a matter of cutting squares in the black and laying it over the black and white checkered. But sandwiched between is black mesh.

(by the way, these are some of MY pics from El Capitan to contribute. :) )

Aye, but I wonder if the black is each an individual square, or an overall like...layer...think. :lol To me it looks that way.

I still like the SDCC vest myself....

EDIT - Since you brought the pants up....Anyone have any shots of the EXACT place the bias tape runs up the leg?

If you go back through and look at the picture of my pants that I posted, I actually have some of that. Lemme know if you want any. .

i think the back of the hat is straight, most likely the angle the picture was taken makes it look diagonal

as for the lace, you can only really make it to look like that, i dont think you can find it wholemeal, i know Chad made his

as for the vest, i did what Acme did
just cut out squares from the black material where the holes should be and sandwich every one together
i need to make a new vest, so if anyone is interested in buying my old vest its up for grabs

Connor....I LOVE you, you know I do, but if you look at the dolls, drawings etc. of the Hatter the seam is infact slanted.

really, weird
ive seen shots were its straight

there are also shots where there are side seams

so you know something
im sure it can basically be any way and no one is gonna hate you for it
cause honestly with this costume
no two can ever be anyway near alike

Ok so not the right thread for this, but I just completed my SyFy ALICE Hatter Hat and ITS ADORABLE.

Ok, back on topic, I think I found a way to make my coat change colour at will, at least it works on the swatch. I shall keep ye informed!

Oi Chad, I forgot to thank you for the video mate! :D Thanks a ton for it, can't wait to get a tie and coat now. :D

you are most welcome! btw I got extra lace for your pants so I can basically just do them for you when you send them to me to be embroidered.

Chad: What is your source for the leather lace down the pant leg?

By the way does anyone have a clue as to what is the stringy material that is on the right side (under the peacock hatpin) of the MH hat? It appears to be hair or perhaps burnt silk? I tested some blonde Kanekalon glued to the side of a scrap leather and it turned out looking like leather with fur!!!:eek

Just curious. I know it appears on promo pics but you don't see it on many movie stills. But still I want to add it.

i dont know, tulle is pretty thick, maybe if you found some real good tulle
it just seams to me that silk is a reacquiring fabric in this costume

silk spools of thread, silk coat, more or less a silk shirt, silk thread buttons, burnt silk, torn silk, dyed silk, aged silk, theirs silk everywhere
so like i said, i wouldn't be surprised if it was silk
