Excellent form Chad especially everything after "screw it!":lol

And here I thought it was going to difficult and HI TECH with pulleys, motors, and switches!

Good form! Now how to modify a bow tie that does not have a velcro neck strap!?

Help a Mad Hatter brother out!

I am getting bombarded on majority of the costume sites I hang out on with questions of "Where did you get your boots?" and "I can't find any boots".....etc. etc. etc.

If you guys are willing to post your sources for your boots and approximate price it would be greatly appreciated.

My boots are lace up round tip Kenneth Cole. I was lucky enough to find the on Amazon.com third party store. This was a last minute purchase after getting a refund from a UK company that sold similar boots but were over $150.00. The link is at the beginning of this thread.

I know some of you have made custom made boots (ACME) and they are beautiful but I think for some on a budget they may not want to got that route. Post your sources to help out our fellow Hatters. I am out of sources and have stopped searching since I already have my shoes.

Key terms to search for:

- leather lace up boot
- square toe
- packer boots
- vintage boots
- Laredo or Roper

Those of you with small feet may be able to get away with women's granny boots. They are similar style but some have pointed toes and about a 1 1/2 inch heel. The styles vary enough though you can find a similar version.

CABoots now has a similar style boot but I don't think any of us would want to pay $450.00 for them. A bit overpriced if you ask me!

Also check out Etsy.com. Similar to eBay but people sell items under "vintage" category!

That is all!

I was looking at these boots for awhile. Just need to cut off the fringe in the front and lighten the color.

Actually, that fringe is usually a separate piece that just ties on with the laces. I just got some old boots from eBay that had the same thing and when I unlaced them, they slid right off. (I've been waiting so long to chime in on this thread. Lol!)

mine had the same thing

there an old pare of Justin's that i found at the thrift store
they looked like thins when i got them

only a bit more natural yellow

yeah, getting lucky at a swap meet is always better

hell if you find a shoe with the right shape and heal you can always do what Toby did and cover them with leather
and just build up on an existing base

I know but some people paid that much for Jack's pirate boots and proceeded to destroy them too! So there are crazies out there that will do such a thing! Gotsta cover both ends of the spectrum ya know!

this is true, and i did want those Jack boots
but mind you those were perfect, more then in fact, they were the same used in the movie

these are just close

/\ Nice! Just use my MOD techniques. You can punch additional holes to 8 total! Use some 800 grit sandpaper and give them a once over and some alcohol to lighten the color!

I plan to hunt for min€ at thrift stor€s first but if no luck I plan to buy th€s€. Alr€ady hav€ a punch€r so th€ €xtra hol€s ar€ no probl€mo.

BTW, what gaug€ l€ath€r is €v€ryon€ using of th€ir hat and how much of it? Wh€n th€ l€ath€r patt€rn is availabl€ I plan to g€t min€ cut and do min€ from scratch.

1-2 ounces is ideal but 2-3 works fine. I used 2-3 ounces to hold the crown portion better. It still collapses when sticking in hatpins but it bounces right back into shape.

i built a frame then warped it with some faux leather, its cheap and easy to burn holes in

and with a inner frame it stands up nicely
though now that i know the true detentions i can make a taller, better one
