So currently I'm working on the bodice embellishments for Iracebeth's the Red Queen's costume.
I don't have much yet.
This is what I've done for the circular stones and their settings.
11/16" diameter
Because I chose not to spend a crapload of money, because I.. well let's just say I don't have the budget, I fashioned these settings out of gold plastic buttons, and sew on plastic red stones. They actually didn't fit the setting at first, and it's not really apparent in the photo but I filed down the edges of each red stone to get them to fit in their propor setting. As far as getting them to the point where they will attach to other pieces, I think that's just a matter of doing a little wirework. I realize that the stones have the holes in them because of their original sew on purpose, but i don't think it will really be that noticeable. All that's left is to glue them in place (9).
This is the gold chain that I have chosen to work with. It was fairly inexpensive and I may change my mind about using it depending on how it looks when put together with everything else.
All the jewels above and the settings and chain was purchased at a strange fabric store treasure trove in Tucson, AZ.
The following is what I am going to use for the 15 stones across the bodice that are grouped together in threes. They're red, octagonal, and are also sew-on (even though technically they're supposed to be in settings as well, but i'm going to try to fake it as best as I can.
oh wow ew. fingerprints. sorry guys. the stones measure 11/16" X 2"
They were purchased at Joanne Fabrics. I believe they were on sale when I got them.
I also have the 20 large pearls that go across the bodice. I happened to buy the perfect amount before I was even aware how many I needed... so that's good. I still need to get the five pointed leaflike caps and the red beads that are above them. I will post photos when I get them completed. I may make the caps out of something similar, if necessary. But until then...
Fairfarren,
Lucy
