Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Costumes

That's what I thought, I've never seen checkered velvet, so I don't think it's printed or factory-made that way, but it was just sewn together (white and teal velvet) to make the checkered pattern

It's called a stitch holder and it's used in knitting! You'll find them with all the knitting needles and such right next to the yarn. They come in sizes from one inch all the way up to eight. This one is six inches. Perfect for holding all that ribbon. I'm going to weather it up a bit though with sandpaper and a slight mist of rust colored paint.]

Awesome!!
ima go look for one tomorrow^^

You are most welcome!

Ok, dont laugh at me but the White Queens throne was an actual prop right? I know a lot was added in.

Could've been. I think the Red Queens chair was green for the purposes of resizing her head. They wouldn't have that need with the White queen. Then again, she only sits in it once, so it could've been a green box. :lol

So currently I'm working on the bodice embellishments for Iracebeth's the Red Queen's costume.

I don't have much yet.
This is what I've done for the circular stones and their settings.

11/16" diameter
Because I chose not to spend a crapload of money, because I.. well let's just say I don't have the budget, I fashioned these settings out of gold plastic buttons, and sew on plastic red stones. They actually didn't fit the setting at first, and it's not really apparent in the photo but I filed down the edges of each red stone to get them to fit in their propor setting. As far as getting them to the point where they will attach to other pieces, I think that's just a matter of doing a little wirework. I realize that the stones have the holes in them because of their original sew on purpose, but i don't think it will really be that noticeable. All that's left is to glue them in place (9).

This is the gold chain that I have chosen to work with. It was fairly inexpensive and I may change my mind about using it depending on how it looks when put together with everything else.

All the jewels above and the settings and chain was purchased at a strange fabric store treasure trove in Tucson, AZ.

The following is what I am going to use for the 15 stones across the bodice that are grouped together in threes. They're red, octagonal, and are also sew-on (even though technically they're supposed to be in settings as well, but i'm going to try to fake it as best as I can.

oh wow ew. fingerprints. sorry guys. the stones measure 11/16" X 2"
They were purchased at Joanne Fabrics. I believe they were on sale when I got them.

I also have the 20 large pearls that go across the bodice. I happened to buy the perfect amount before I was even aware how many I needed... so that's good. I still need to get the five pointed leaflike caps and the red beads that are above them. I will post photos when I get them completed. I may make the caps out of something similar, if necessary. But until then...

Fairfarren,
Lucy

Even tho it wasnt seen in the film, I still loved the prop... Missing a few little things, small circles on bulb, etc but I am pleased.

Has anyone here bought wigs from this company for the MH? The price seems too good to be true but it DOES look very doable with a little work. Any comments?

http://www.peri-wig.com/product.php?productid=3402

looks good but ebay had some better, AND cheaper wigs such as:

http://cgi.ebay.com/GW155-Orange-Sh...S_CSA_MWA_Wigs_Extensions&hash=item27b13b5f6c

this one comes with a bald cap but it looks like it has a chin strap, but easy mod to take it off, just use scissors!

just search "orange wig" :)

Actually both versions I don't think I would use. The first one requires way too much work and it looks more like an Afro than a regular curly haired wig. The second may be too short so you would have add some extensions. Also that isn't a chin strap it is just a size adjuster that isn't attached to the inside netting of the wig. Yet it does look like a chinstrap!!!!!!!!

Go with the funny man wig from FleaBay! $20.00 and all you need to do is trim it up!
