Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Costumes

Yes my sewing machine is still "Mint In Box!"

Shucks! Today is the last day to see AIW at El Capitan so get up there if you want to see this costume for the very last time!:cry

The gold buttons on the vest appear to be a woman on them while the buttons on the coat appear to be a fox. They are cool!

So who is going to cast them and not charge $9000.00 per button?

I scored a huge amount of wooden spools not too long ago and lucked out I now have all the correct colors. JUST finished my bandolier last nite. Picked up a spool of chain at Joannes for cheap. It's aluminum chain so we'll see how long it'll last and if I need to do any mods so it can handle normal wear. 7 bucks for 7 yards I couldn't beat it.

Anyone able to narrow down the tartan clan? I was looking on line and thought maybe Hume or Black Watch Regiment but boy was I also way off!

I need to bring one of these pictures to the Scots store down by the Queen Mary in Long Beach!

OK so I have successfully made the following:

Tiny alice teapot dress,

Screen accurate blue and white teapot,

scissor holder, replete with antique scissors

and finally a screen accurate ring pincushion PIN.

All of which I'll probably be selling, but in the meantime I'll post pictures! But before that, I have completed the how-to for the mood tie, so send me your youtube account names and I'll add you so you can see!

Can you just post your vid link Chad?

Also AWESOME job on the RQ crown Eli, looks straight out of the movie!

Actually I think it looks like a wheatered Roberts / Probert tartan... But it's not Scottish, it's Welsh...

This tartan fabric can be found here: http://www.thescottishweaver.com/WelshTartans/index.html#

I don't know this site, so it could be good or not, I don't take responsibilities for it!:lol

Oh, I almost forgot...
Capn Jack, feel free to post or send those hi-res images of the costume/tie whenever you had the chance, so I cold try to make the print pattern for the tie ;)

I just got my Alice In Wonderland Visual Guide, A Visual Companion, and the Screenplay Adaptation Story (very small book) from Amazon yesterday. I must say very nice books. The Visual Guide has pics of many props, the Visual Companion gives us some great insight to the filming, on-set shenanigans and costumes.

In the Visual Companion Acknowledgments page there is a great picture of the MH hat from the back. Anyone notice that the seam is diagonally cut? Also the "Art Deco style" hat pin also has a jewel on top while other pictures it doesn't. It looks nice with the jewel. And finally I really do think the shape of the hat scarf is very wide and tapers down to about an 8-inch width. You can see that it is not double wrapped around the hat but it is very wide at the front.

Time to make some modifications yet again!:cry

By the way great find on the tartan Ramiel! Ready made kilts are NOT CHEAP. Anyone going to attempt to make one or get one ready made? I think the cheapest custom made non-wool kilt that I have seen runs around $400-$500!
