Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Costumes

BEAUTIFUL! :eek

Thanks all!
As with my Um-it's not 100% SA, but I'm very happy with it :)

I did end up doing the SA buttons over the black buttons, and I think that fixed the scale perfectly.

My sleeves are a little short compared to the film version, but that's my fault for not measuring the pleats in the sleeves correctly and then leaving enough fabric for the right length.

Lessons learned and all that stuff :)

I've heard good things bout the licensed version and am waiting til the Spirit store in my town gets it before I make a purchase. I'm hoping they carry the hatpins too. 25ish for the wig, 20 for hatpins and 10 or so for the eyebrows. I saw a tutorial where a gal made her eyebrows using swatches of fake fur. she painted then shaped them. I may go this route so I have more than one set of brows.

The licensed one is aweful! I just saw it today and it looks very bland and uhhhh.... No good. I'll look into the eyebrow thing though. You have a link?

Here's one link for the eyebrows (and has a pic of them out of the box.)

As for the licensed wig, you're right...it isn't great. But, it has more potential than most out there. The color isn't bad. I actually posted a pic a few pages back. I believe Kel posted a pic as well of the un-licensed deluxe Hatter wig. Either one can be styled and brushed out a wee bit (and I simply went with the official for the idea that it has more lenth, which I need for my huge dome.)

I purchased the licensed wig in addition to my Charades wig and I agree, the licensed wig is AWFUL! The color is way off (more of a light orange with a pinkish undertone and the stitching of the hair into the wig cap was very shoddy. The wig cap didn't even fit correctly (wouldn't go all the way down in the back), so in a whole, it was crappy. In my opinion the Charades wig is A LOT more superior in construction and color and after some styling with Got2Be hair glue it looks perfect... this is the Charades one...

Yeah, if it's licensed.....You can usualy bet that it's gonna suck. :lol :p ;)

Keli, very cool!!!! I think I may try it out now! I bought a hat to mod...But now I'm thinking I might do what you did. :D

It's actually easier than it seems and if you take your time with it you'll end up with a nice looking hat and not a sloppy one like most of the hats I've seen that are made with the same tutorial.

I think I may just order me a set of those brows! Best looking ones I have seen thus far!

Just be aware that if you get the licensed eyebrows, they are going to match the licensed wig because, as Kel pointed out, the colors between the Charades wig and the Disney wig aren't the same. I'm thinking of making my own......I'm a little worried about how chunky and fake the licensed ones look.

None of the stores I went to Friday had them. :( No hat pin sets either. :/

Most of the stores are saying that the hat pins won't be in until October 1st :(

Yeah, the eyebrows do match the color of the licensed wig so they won't match the others. The Charades wig is pretty much spot on to the exact color of Hatter's wig in the movie which is why I decided to keep that one. I plan to clip some hair from the underside of my wig and glue the hair to a mesh type material to form the brows, then use spirit gum to attach that to my skin like you would any fake facial hair appliance.

Every store I've called (online and regular retail) all say the hat pins won't arrive until after October 1st and some are even saying as late as October 15th. That's why I decided to make my own instead :/

Thanks so much for your process write up!
I'm saving that link for future reference :)

I would say make your own pins. I made mine just like Kel did and I love the way mine look. Plus, I can't imagine the licensed ones looking all that great anyway. I found all of these things at a craft store and it cost less than $20.

You're welcome :) Hope it comes in handy.

Speaking of hats though... I'm happy to say mine is finally complete... although knowing me, I might mess with it down the road... LOL

As soon as I restyle it I'll take another photo... the foam head, hat, and wig took a nosedive to the floor tonight after a good gust of wind came through the window and knocked everything off the top of my desk. Broke a hatpin too :( So not a happy camper.
