Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Both Shoulders and Biceps Done! 6/14

I really do like the grey foam look. I think a little bit of airbrushing for depth, and it would rival any painted version. kudos on the build!

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Both Shoulders and Biceps Done! 6/14

Thanks guys. I plan on finishing out the other arm soon and then it's on to the other thigh, both shins, boots and the spine piece. Then I will dremel in detail lines, and get it harnessed and ready for wear. Then prime and paint.

But yeah the grey foam does have a cool look.

Delray if you do let me hook you up with my supplier... you can't get this thickness anywhere else. I've looked.
I can't wait for your finished suit! This one is definately a keeper! I might tri my hand at the war machine torso before i start a complete build. I finished the first vid, just waiting for stef to post it on his tutorials! Keep Building!....:thumbsup

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Both Shoulders and Biceps Done! 6/14

Thinking about selling my rough work in progress helmet in these pics which includes 2 3d printed ear pieces and the helmet has already been separated in 3 pieces and strengthened somewhat to fund the purchase of one of Gemini Khans helmets. I'll post some details later tonight.

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Both Shoulders and Biceps Done! 6/14

Hey guys,

Awhile back I commissioned Paul aka ROBO to model the new arc reactor Tony makes near the end of IM2. I had it printed at shapeways.. it was printed in multiple pieces with the intention of each layer being painted to look like metal, black, etc.. the base plate is a great diffuser of light as it's a semi translucent white plastic. Pics of it in pieces and I did a quick pop together to show you it as a whole. Plus a pic of it in 3d.

This will sit behind the triangular opening just like in the movie.. very stoked!

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - 3D Printed Arc Reactor! 7/18

fantastic build, the ultimate costume imo, one youd never want to sell when finished - well unless it was silly money id be tempted - but even then after all the work id be hesitant too. when i build my itmes now i tend to do 2 at the same time

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - 3D Printed Arc Reactor! 7/18

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - 3D Printed Arc Reactor! 7/18

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - 3D Printed Arc Reactor! 7/18

Thanks Jon. Thanks Roy. It certainly turned out well!

I managed to get the other elbow done and most of the forearm done. I am working on functionality of the wrist area on the forearm and will be tackling the palm areas soon. Then I'll move on to the other thigh and shins/boots.

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - 3D Printed Arc Reactor! 7/18

I'd also like to thank IndieFilmGeek for his awesome ideas.. I used a 2 part epoxy to strengthen the elbow joint areas where my chicago screws are in place.

By the way.. the same stone bit that worked to create the recesses for the magnets also creates a perfectly round, clean as hell hole for my chicago screws to go through.

I plan on using the epoxy on all the inside of my costumes seams. I bout the 2 big bottle kind of epoxy.. my god does the yellow colored one smell like rotten eggs, lol.

Pics again since we hit another page.
