Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - 3D Printed Arc Reactor + Both Arms Done! 7/19

Ha. Luckily I have no sites that are blocked at work. I work in a very cool work environment. We watch movies, listen to music, have nerf gun wars, playstation, wii, work on puzzles you name it. As long as we get our work done they don't care how our time is spent.

Tell me about it, I'm in work too. Luckily the RPF is about one of the only sites they've not blocked

Definitely sucks, my work is slow we barely do any bank transactions and yet they don't want me buidling IM at work lol pisses me off. 10:15 and not one person has come in. I could be making good progress here.

Anyways kick ass progress man, do you use a dremel tool when you first sculpt the foam for the details?

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - 3D Printed Arc Reactor + Both Arms Done! 7/19

I do not use the dremel for sculpting the details. Everything is done with an xacto knife, hot glue and a matt cutter. The dremel comes into play later for the grooves, etc.

Sorry for derailing your thread! The suit looks amazing and I can't wait to see it finished. Great detail and I like how you split the ab section. Looking forward to more updates!

Thanks!

I got the ab idea from the Hot Toys figure.. this is how the articulation works on it.

Nice, man learn something new everyday I'm on this site. I think the idea of the eva foam is brilliant. Once you are done though all you do is prime and paint it no hardening methods to mess with like the pepakura method? Seeing how I have the helmet about done I am wondering if I should switch to another medium because I can't see myself doing the entire suit the pep way. Sorry one more question bro, do you draw the details in on the foam?

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - 3D Printed Arc Reactor + Both Arms Done! 7/19

I cut out my template pieces and trace them onto the foam.. and please note this is not the textured back flooring mats that everyone else uses/used.. I am using a 4mm thick closed cell eva foam... same as the kind IndieFilmGeek uses as I referred him to the material.

On another note. I am selling my work in progress helmet to fund the purchase one of Gemini Khan's helms.. link here to it.

Jordan, I had a question about that arc reactor are all th' pieces plastic or just th' base?

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - 3D Printed Arc Reactor + Both Arms Done! 7/19

They are all plastic. I will paint them up to look metal, black, etc...

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - 3D Printed Arc Reactor + Both Arms Done! 7/19
