Pretty much, the moire attached to the motor isn't translucent, it just isnt white opaque. The communicators are much more visible.

I think I have a set of tricorder moires in my odds and sods box. I'll have a look tomorrow when I'm able.
I wonder if backing it with a simple piece of white paper would work, as that would still let the light through if you turn it on, but would make it opaque if not.
I'm hesitant to try and pull mine out to take a look. Did you use anything to pry it?

Another Wand Teardown vid……

I haven’t see it since I just found it……it looks like he goes deeper than the last guy :)

I have no idea what persuades these YouTubers that a 40 minute video of tearing one of these down is watchable. If it's over 10 minutes, you're not speeding up the boring parts.

My favorite ones (to skip entirely) are the two-hour "reviews" of two-minute film trailers. Unbelievable.

Oh, hell no! What did I just watch? That’s definitely nothing like breaking-down a communicator or phaser. I used to swap out components on my iPhone years ago, and even that looks simple compared to this. Def not a ‘kitchen counter’ procedure!

I feel like I got my money’s worth ~ (y)

Perhaps your a Big Picture person and not a Devil in the Details person……I come from a technical background, I enjoy how things are put together and connected.

It’s to each one’s own.

If you all are taking the Moire device apart, please post some pictures. I would be interested to see what the backside looks like where it hits the motor spindle.

Someone already mentioned something about prying off the ring.

Below shows how to do that….of course you can do that ….. without tearing down the tricorder ;) but it shows other aspects of the moire assembly.

I fast forwarded just to see the guts of the thing. He wasn’t very gentle, was he. I doubt he’ll ever get that back together.

Thanks for posting! I’ve been hoping someone would do a full tear down of one of these to see what the electronic components are in side these gadgets.
I’m a details person so I like the long really detailed vids like this. It may be a relatively long video but I found it so interesting to see how it’s all put together it seemed pretty quick for me.
