The Video Game Thread - anything and everything...

I hope this time we get some real DLCs though and the game is not left half finished to focus on multiplayer. They would be stupid not to do multiplayer with all the money they raked in, but it was obvious a lot of locations in GTA 5 were meant for more. They were, just for multiplayer. For example they have that huge casino/race track and you don't do a thing with it in single player. I remember at one point the game said (maybe after the jewelry store heist?) that now more heists will be available and touting new crew members. It seemed like something they didn't finish.
Yeah even GTA4 had similar areas.. Which is still my favourite of the recent bunch..

I just love cruising the streets I guess.

Fun fact..
I prepared myself for driving in Los Angeles by obsessively playing GTA before I jumped on a plane to the US.
I only forgot which side of the road I was on once.. but that was up near Laurel Canyon/Hollywood hills so pretty quite oops!..
I still have my PS3 set up with BurnOut Paradise in the disc tray for similar reasons and having it hooked up to my Whoop arse projector is how all games should be played..

Some interesting news for fans of Final Fantasy VII Remake in this vid, including trilogy now being confirmed, story line changes to keep things fresh for FFVII veterans and news on the Crisis Core remake. PS5 is now the lead development platform due to the advantages of its SSD. Crisis Core will be released on all platforms, but FFVII Rebirth will be PS5 exclusive, presumably for a year or two period like Remake was.
Square Enix staff also interested in doing a Dirge of Cerberus remake, the Vincent side story, although nothing will be decided while staff is busy working on Rebirth, Crisis Core and Ever Crisis the FFVII classic Remaster for ios and android.

Looks like I'll be ignoring this remake for another 6-ish years then, since (A) I don't have a PS5 (and I friggin' HATE exclusives), and (B) I don't wanna start a game just to have it unfinished part way thru and then have to wait for another few years.

One of the reasons I haven't bothered with the Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access.

If recent game history has shown us anything it's that being an early adopter doesn't pay. It seems that in the past several years that buying a game early, esp. in pre-release means that you're essentially paying to beta test the game for the dev company. And ever since broadband became a household thing, many publishers have been pushing their devs to release games by a certain arbitrary date whether it's finished or not, their logic being that even if it's released unfinished, they can simply patch the game upon release and continue to patch until it's completely fixed or simply no longer profitable enough to continue patching.

Fwiw, Remake is kind of a bloated game. They really put a lot of filler side-questy type stuff into it, when I would have appreciated a much tighter experience. For all that, the game plays well and it's beautiful to look at. I hope the next two don't get delayed into oblivion.

All the core mechanics and game assets are done so development turnover time was only delayed due to the team porting the PC version and reworking the updated PS5 mechanics into Intergrade. The next two installments are not expected to take near as long to develop.

I didn't mean that specifically to poke at Remake's dev time, just a general wish. Given my druthers I'd prefer every game to take as long as it takes to put it out the door not broken.

I love asking questions on video game forums. I got the Capcom Arcade Stadium Street Fighter 2 game free several weeks back and was trying to ask, on Steam forums, if my 8BitDo Sega Genesis style controller would work. I couldn't get it to recognize it in the game. So the one reply I got was "My Nintendo Switch controller seems to work fine." WTH? Do you really believe when you write that, that that is in any way going to help answer the question? It's like going on a GM forum and saying "My new Corvette won't start, help!" and getting the reply "Well my Ford Mustang drives really well!" (Actually you might get that response in a GM vs. Ford way, so that's not the greatest analogy )

What platform are you playing on, PC?

Well lets be honest, Square will probably release a "complete" edition once all of FF7 remake is released in some special package.
Of course they will. Probably be steelbook and have Crisis Core included and I would totally buy it.

Dont forget the rumored Dirge of Cerberus. Thats probably the special complete edition which also includes all the DLC and a nice art book. Big statue if you spring for the super ultimate take my money edition.

Kind of separate but I would like a DLC of Advent Children for part 3. I didnt really like the story and as a movie its meh but as a video game, it would be pretty cool to play (Cloud against the 3 bros and a souped up Sephiroth, especially if Part 3 remains true to the game with Sephiroth becoming a big monster).

I've never played Crisis Core before, but have played through the original FF7 a ton of times, watched Advent Childen a few times, and the remake twice.
So I understand, for the most part about Zack.
It will be nice to experience it as a remake, even if some things are changed, just hopefully not a lot.

Wild. I've never tried my 8bitdo controller on PC, but it typically works well with my switch. I tend to stick with a wired 360 pad or a series console controller when I'm on PC.

It works great with other games like SEGA Genesis Classics, but not for this one for some reason. I HATE playing Street Fighter games with a Xbox controller because the button layout is all wrong .The six button Genesis controller, that this is trying to emulate, is perfect because you have the Hi, Med, Low attacks laid out like the arcade.

Little question/idea for everyone.
Trying to find any and every game that has any type of rebar in it. I expect any parts with construction or something destroyed would have it.
But Final Fantasy 15 actually has a whole bunk tied up behind a building.

My work sells tons and tons of it. Ao thought it would be a fun idea to find it in games.
