The Video Game Thread - anything and everything...

I never bothered playing the first game. I enjoyed the ones with Ezio since the story and gameplay was different than anything I'd played up to that point, and then the slide started.
I never played the Ezio ones but fans always say those are the best in the series in both gameplay and story.

In the first game, it was very wash, rinse, repeat. Get a contract, track the target, isolate and kill him. There's no variety at all. Sometimes it might be a challenge sneaking passed guards but there's no challenge in the actual assassination itself. You usually end up chasing the target for a few blocks, kill him and sometimes fight his bodyguards and that's it. I'd have enjoyed it more if there would've been more options on how to infiltrate the area the target is hiding in and more ways to assassinate than just stabbing. Hitman is a much better assassin game in that regard.

Totally addicted to Cyberpunk 2077. It had the potential to be alot more than it is, but I am having fun.
Same here. There's so much cool/really good free stuff in the game that I've watched a lot of videos to learn what & where they are and taken notes. Now I've I just note them down, then find a website that has a good description of where/how to get them and then copy/paste everything into a word doc that I print out, otherwise there's no way I'd remember any of it. It's been ages that I've done this with a game and there's been no other game, since the invention YouTube, that I've watched so many how to videos on it.

It's a pity that it's, apparently, so broken on last gen consoles, but it plays wonderfully on the PC. The only consistent bug that I've noticed is that sometime lootable objects can't be picked up. But that's not a big deal for me since, so far, it's been almost all low end items with only one instance, that I can recall, of an uncommon item which is only the second tier up.

The only disappointing thing was that, playing as the female V, you can't romance Panam. I really liked the character and have been spending the past week or so playing all of the Panam missions (all the while ignoring the main story missions) and hoping to romance her only to find out that it's only possible to do with the male V. Which is odd since I seem to recall that when you first meet Panam, she was previously in a relationship with another female NPC. Oh well, Going to work on romancing Judy now instead.

Do you have any good links or resources? I've just been bopping around just figuring things out as I go along.

The game is damn gorgeous on PC. (Sorry, console people). I just like going around looking at stuff sometimes.

I'm frustrated that headshots don't put people down so easily. I'm learning how much it sucks to get hacked during combat. I wished the "armor" system doesn't force me into the most ridiculously mismatched clothes for protection.

I'm intimidated by the skill tree because I don't want to waste my experience on weak skills. I'm still trying to understand more about those implants. The hacking minigame gets me flustered because I don't want to waste time reading the rewards so just go for the first combo I see.

But I am really liking this game. I'm still early into it so the world isn't entirely open. I'm hoping at some point the entire world will open up for my character.

I do

I don't have any go to YouTube channel or website, I just search for what I'm looking for or watch videos that pop up in my recommendations on YouTube; sorry. The Mighty Jingles on YouTube does have one advice video in addition to his playthroughs. Just do a search on YouTube for Cyberpunk 2077 and watch any that catch your interest. If you feel you can't remember everything in the video, just do what I do and jot down the subject then copy/paste the details from a website with the details (presented in a manner you like) into a document that you either access while playing or print out.

Off hand, if you want to play sniper, or at least have a really good sniper rifle on hand, make sure you do the Panam missions, You'll get these after you talk to somebody named Rogue, don't worry though, it's a side mission related to the main story missions after you speak to Takemura in the diner. After a while you'll get a mission from Panam where the reward will be her sniper rifle, Overwatch, which is an iconic sniper rifle which can take out anybody that's not way above your level with a single headshot and can be upgraded to Legendary quality.

Another gun to look for is a smart gun called Skippy. This is another iconic weapon and has a really funny AI that talks to you. When you first get it, it will ask you which mode you would like to set it in, lethal or non-lethal. Be sure to choose non-lethal because after 50 kills it will automatically (permanently) switch to the other mode. So, choose non-lethal and then finish off every "kill" with Skippy to get it to go lethal after 50 kills. Sadly, you can't keep Skippy permanently, there's a mission to return Skippy to its original owner and it doesn't like it if you say that you will return him and keep him instead. There are ways around this though, do a search for keeping Skippy and you'll find a few different ways of keeping Skippy.

As far as which perks to get, that will depend on your play style. Do you want to hack people and take them out that way? Do you want to just shoot everybody? Play sniper? Or engage everybody in melee? Regardless of build, I'd recommend at least a few points in tech since it will allow you to access certain things in game that will make your life easier. Up to about 8 - 10 points is about all you'll need. This should be enough to allow you to open certain doors and access data ports for money and crafting components.

I play on the Series X and have only hade a few bugs. Mostly sound dissappearing or dialogue choices not responding to input. And 3 chrashes in 77 hours. So I am fine with how the game runs.

A little more interactivity would be nice (sit at bars etc) but the world is amazing.

As for loot and armor, I have found alot of cool things exploring. Keep in lind that when you see a legendary item in a container or on a body, you can reload to play the RNG game and get better mods/slots.

As for clothes looking weird: after playing AC: Odyssey I really hope more games go with the tranmogrification thing they used. Lets you get the best gear and still look good.

As for leveling up just go with what you like really. You can (for 100k eddies) reset your perks (but not the attributes!). I went for intelligence and technical ability and I have to say, hacking is pretty OP. Will go more body and assault next play through.

I would say take your time with the Breach Protocol, the rewards are great and they make alot of side missions easier if you unlock the deamons that disable cameras/turrets etc.

Panam not being a Female romance option I did not notice since I romanced Judy.

I do feel the prologue could have been more playable rather than a clipshow with Jackie once you reach Night City ( I went for Nomad).

I am at the endgame now so just finishing up side missions until I tackle the final det of story missions.

Overall I have to say writing/story/setting is great, alot of nerdy references. game play is good but not anything special. Crafting system is clunky, quest managment is a bit clunky aswell. Driving is great with some cars, horrible with others. First person was the right choice for immersions sake.

A total disaster that they did not optimize it better for last gen but the game is not the train crash people are claiming.

Also, double jump cyberware is more fun than it should be :)
I was going to mention the reroll thing, but you beat me to it. The RNG also applies to crafting too. When you craft something, you can always reload a save game to try crafting for better specs. Also, when you get an iconic item, or any item really (I think), you can craft the next higher tier of it and it automatically replaces it with that new version. This beats spending a lot of resources in constantly upgrading to get it to that level.

I went for the reinforced ankles and charged jump, I read somewhere that it was more useful than they were more useful than reinforced tendons and their double jump. But after watching more videos, it seems that the consensus is that double jump is the more useful of the two. Funny thing is that I was originally going for double jump but decided on charged jump. I think that I'm going to switch out the leg mods at some point since pretty much everybody is saying double jump is the way to go. Luckily, I have plenty of money thanks to the dropbox bug/glitch. But I'm holding on to a bunch of the more expensive weapons as a rainy day fund in case they fix that bug.

Also I got the bug that won’t let you buy legendary crafting specs. Which sucks since I was especially going for them. I hope they fix it in the coming patch.

Basically they won’t show up after you interact with the vendor the first time, since they are not part of the randomized inventory but should Always be there. But it only shows the randomized items.

I bought Cyberpunk at launch... but now I'm going to wait until about March or April to play it.
Are you playing on the PC or console? If you're playing it on the PC there's no reason to wait because it plays very well on the PC with only the occasional and minor bug. Consoles are a different matter with some having no major issues, like on the PC, while others find it way too buggy to play. For what it's worth, they've patched it up to version 1.06 so far.

Talk about a HUGE miss for Valhalla. Yeah, they're adding it after the fact, but months after the release date is totally unacceptable.

PC, though it's about 7 years old and firmly in the middle of the specs. So I don't know how it will run.

My system is not all that new, maybe just a couple of years or so younger than yours and it runs fine. Of course, I did upgrade my video card to a GeForce GTX 1650 before I got the game, but it's hardly a high end graphics card. I'm also running an older AMD CPU with DDR3 RAM, so if your system is close to that then it should run fine, like mine does.

Yeah I really hope more games go that route. After looking like an idiot for the first half of The Witcher 3 it wa a nice change to look good and have nice looking armor.

Damn, I'm actually thinking of waiting to upgrade my PC and get Cyberpunk 2077 on that instead of PS5 just for the Blade Runner climate mod.

my pc is getting older now, just an I5-4690k, 16gb ram, and a gtx1070, the game runs perfectly fine at high/ultra settings at 1080p. it struggles at 4k which is understandable, but I just figured ultra at 1080 will be nicer than 4k with everything turned down

I just finished Jedi Fallen Order. Wow! What a game, and what an ending. Loved it!

I've thought about getting it but the save system keeps me from jumping on it. I really, really detest checkpoint or save point based save systems because I hate repeating long parts of a game that I've beaten previously just to get to the one point that I might be having trouble with. I stopped playing the original Assassin's Creed because of that. I had the hardest time getting past one spot, then when I finally did, I ended up dying shortly after, before the next save. Ironically, in games with regular saves (quick saves and manual saves at any time) I'll often redo parts because I didn't like how I handled it, ie I took more damage than I would have liked.
